Countdown Rush is the worst addition to competitive ever

Very fun game mode in 6v6 Awful in competitive A competition of who gets better spawns on whatever map This is absolutely miserable and I know y'all won't remove it for another 6 months of frustration I am losing games I should be winning simply because I or my teammates spawn 100 meters away from an objective we have seconds to get to, clear the enemy team, and then disarm before they spawn 5 feet away and rush at us again

  • Is that the diffusing of the freaking mines? This is worst than rift in comp! Holy Toledo.. it’s terrible.. no one knows the objective… lone wolfs running around the map.. it’s horrid.. should only be elimination..

    • Yeah it is mindblowing how this passed QC Im convinced there is 0 playtesting. Heavy every 60 seconds. Respawns. No round end after each defuse. Its embarrassing

              • Rewards such as Ascendant Alloys, Ascendant Shards, and Enhancement cores should be given to the winning team in Crucible/Trials and Iron Banner. Reason behind this would improve performance for CoD and Fortnite players to learn how to do objective in Destiny 2 Crucible.

                Took me a game or two to figure out what’s he h was going on. Whole team ran to a charge and was unable to set it 😂 missed the defend part! Did my seven games to get the cool new pulse and got a rose instead🙄

                • Bungie should have just keep competitive as Survival , everyone was happier back then with just that one game mode in comp.

                  • Def... Countdown in 3s imo is rift 2.0 just bad, It's the maps they had chosen for it, they are all huge.. Pacifica is the smallest I've played countdown on so far

                      • Lads I admit I do not even know how to play Countdown Rush! Is there a vid or an explanation how to play it in general? Aside from the mentioned flaws of it being live now. How should it be played in theory?

                        • I haven't played it myself, and I'm not going to, I'll just have to trust some random persons opinion off the internet (that always works right?), but this is why I laugh when I hear the team "PvP strike team". It makes it sound like Bungie has experience, knowledgeable people working on Crucible, but since most of the feedback I've seen lately is Crucible hate, (which IS common but that just means nothing's gotten better yet...), they obviously do not.

                            Yes you're supposed to build yourself a spawning advantage over time base largely on your knowledge of movement. It's one of those unfortunate things where if they try to undo too much of the natural competitiveness calculations that the game would actually do it can just make the fie worse and unnatural feeling so it would just compound the bad over time. And s lot of people won't see why it's bad. Still cool they have people there that would even think high speed 3v3 countdown could be a thing. Very surprised in a good way that made it into the game. Might not be the best thing for what should be one of the main daily draws. People are also judging it based on their ability to win at it after 3 days so there's also that. Perhaps it should have produced more wins for everyone. Whoever made it shows the know more about how pvp should be being played than most if not all the other modes that have come out more recently. There's also the control problem with it being missing then if it comes back the people that ruined the mode get to pretend and condescend like they fixed the pvp and know everything about it. Countdown might have lasted long enough for people understand the joy of practicing at something and that it's not really that how much you sit on the game scales to how much you can do it. People are going to get enough of just turning not being able to do something into an identity to be offended. Eventually things become people's fault when thats how they respond to everything and they tend to end up looking really stupid. Pvp needs to stop being nothing but modes that are about only playing what's int front of you like it's pve. That's what makes them bad when they are. They were supposed to go into a sterling bucket with gold embossments of their own making.

                          • Competitive has been a magnet for terrible game modes since the start of D2. I still remember the miserable few games I had to play just to open up pvp in Y1. It's one of those things that has never been popular, yet they refuse to get rid of it. IIRC in D1 it was just weekly rotating modes you could choose from. This quick play/competitive nonsense is just garbage.

                            • It sucks and I keep getting it 2-3 times in a row. Comp is supposed to be about kills and gameplay, map play. Not objective bs thsts incredibly boring.

                              That sounds like an issue that the Relic mode has as well when it comes to spawning and getting to the depots, though it's 6v6 exclusively.

                            • That’s what I’ve been saying. It literally is just “Who can place it first and scout spam the most.” It’s constant Scout/Decoy spam. If you’re planting a bomb, they camp the spot with scouts. If they’re planting the bomb, they spam Decoys for defense and you’re trying to get to the fuse but it’s 1000 miles away. If the bomb is ticking, they camp with Scouts and spam Decoys if you get close. It’s just the same thing for every encounter.

                                Agreed. The other day, I literally farmed the enemy team, yet still lost because they can respawn endlessly and just set a charge at whichever one I/we aren’t defending. Unlimited revives literally ruins the point of countdown. If you wipe the enemy team in 3v3, that should either be a straight W for the round, or at least a huge advantage. And heavy shouldn’t be in comp or trials at all. Not all maps have equal spawns for it, nor does it require any skill to use, so it should just be removed. Edit: To add to my opinion despite it not mattering much at all, Comp should just be Survival (and maybe the old countdown). I’d say elimination too, but that’s Trials’ thing imo. It’s bs how you basically have to rely on RNG to give you an actual skill based mode and not one that allows people to get carried by poorly designed mechanics like Countdown Rush.
