A new article just game out from Game Informer that said this:
Here’s how it works. Upgrading exotic weapons and armor is completed by interacting with the weekend vendor, Xur. When he arrives every Friday morning, he will now have a new option to upgrade one of your equipped exotic items. Each week, he’ll offer some (but not all) exotic items as being available to upgrade.
You’ll need three things. First, you need to own the original version of that exotic item, and turn it in to exchange for the upgraded version. It doesn't matter if this old version of the item is brand new or fully upgraded. To complete the upgrade, you’ll also need to turn in an exotic shard. This recently introduced new material is available for purchase for seven strange coins from Xur, or by breaking down another existing exotic item in your inventory. Finally, each exotic upgrade costs a hefty dose of cash – around 7000 glimmer as of my playthrough of the expansion in mid-November. After turning all three of these things into Xur, he’ll hand you a brand new version of your item with a higher defense or attack value cap.
So for the next week if you upgrade your exoctic weapons you will just have to do it all over again.
I would like to know if this applies to the Mythoclast, or if it is already "upgraded."
Also before next Friday make sure you have haxed glimmer, and you may want to arrest gaining faction reputation while you are at it because:
Independent of raid loot, there are some new wrinkles involved in acquiring standard expansion-tier legendary gear. In addition to spending crucible or vanguard marks, buying new purple items now requires that you gain crucible or vanguard commendations. This reward is provided when you hit a new reputation level, and arrives via the postmaster. New legendary gear can be purchased by any Destiny player, regardless of whether you own The Dark Below.
I do what I want

Something to remember >.> XUR HAS TO HAVE IT. If he doesn't have it you wait another week. And he may not have that for the next week. And the next and so on and so on. -blam!-, look at 3 months of his sales. No Heart of Praxic. No Thunderlord, universal remote. I might be missing one but I dont know. So why GIMP yourself by not having maxed shit even if he doesn't have it available. I know I will not take anyone in a raid with me who does not have full 300 weapons. Just no sense in assuming the first time Xur appears you can upgrade all of your Exotics.
-
Man. They could have warned us of this.
-
Got my icebreaker from this weeks nightfall , should I stop upgrading that ?
-
The "wipe" only gets rid. If the perks, it will maintain a base 300 damage and then gets upgraded from there.
-
Maxing out my Gjallarhorn for the raid. All my other shit I stop caring about now because of this complete bullshit move from Bungie.
-
Im really loosing patience with this game.

Edited by DaveTheScouser12: 12/4/2014 7:29:48 AMDoes this go for raid legendarys too? Just got fatebringer!was going to lvl it today isn't it worth it now?
-
The exotic reset is -blam!-ing optional! You don't HAVE to do it, learn to read
-
Lmao. Reading op. XD everything doesn't get auto reset. It's a reset by choice and only when the guns maxed. XD
-
The mythoclast has already been upgraded. Mine was maxed out before the patch, and now it's at 323 damage. I didn't have to do anything to it.
-
Wouldn't have been smarter if they just added another row to the weapon slot so you can just continue from what you already did? Seems like that would be the best thing for everyone
-
Only thing I'm working on now is Vex. I'm done working on any others until dlc.
-
Does 300 compared 323 damage really make a big impact? To go through all of that just for 23 more base damage
-
My g horn is on the last node. Lol

Edited by Elazul: 12/3/2014 9:16:05 PMThis may be the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am sure not going to spend another 7 - 8 days worth of playtime grinding out all my equipment and gear again. If Bungie thinks they can artificially inflate playtime this way its going to backfire bigtime. I would honestly rather leave. Super disappointed right now. Another reason i'm sorry I pre-ordered the damn Digital Deluxe Edition.
-
I'd love to see the brainstorming session where they concluded that resetting XP on exotics would be a great idea to get players into the Dark Below.
-
This is a huge disappointment. I think this would be a better compromise.
-
Mythoclast was already upped to 323 so it doesn't apply.
-
my advice is til next friday save all the 5000xp bounties that way we can level our stuff back up fast. bungie thinks they can f with us guess again
-
Too late. Already wasted 3 Exotic Shards. Bye bye Destiny.
-
I got jooed.

I don't know what the big deal is ... Every game anyone plays has weapons that MAX out then a DLC or RNG comes along a new better weapon presents itself. You still have to start over this is just a way to keep your favorite exotic. For example you may LOVE Thorn but don't like any of the new hand cannons that are more powerful. You can just upgrade your Thorn as if you just found a new one in the wild that's better. Lol it's all your choice. Use a new gun or restart a better more powerful exotic that you already love.
-
I doubt this to be true. I had my Vex Mythoclast maxed before the update. After the update I found my Mythoclast to be at 323 damage already. So by that statement that you quoted is true, then if I were to turn in that weapon to Xur, I should receive a "brand new Mythoclast" that can be upgraded to beyond 323 damage. No, I don't think so.

Maybe they should have let us know like a month ago so we could all stop wasting our time, materials, shards, energies and glimmer prepping for a raid that will reset all out f****** progress, oh wait that would ruin their ploy to get us to waste a s*** ton of time only to pull the rug from under us and say f*** you for buying this game.
