Can you think of a game that ever disappointed you more than Destiny has with its freemium/RNG bullshit loot, lack of content, repetitiveness/grindfest, inexcusable bugs, and laughable story?
I can't. I've put a lot of time in, because it was still fun early on to play with friends. But now almost all of us despise this game. And with what's planned for the future, nothing looks like it's going to change.
We all had sky high hopes, bought in to the hype, but this game is pretty terrible. Pretty and controls well, but it's a bad bad game.
Anything else close to this disappointing for you?
EDIT: People love to cite my play time as some kind of argument that the game can't be that disappointing. Here is an answer to that:
Did I have a lot of fun?
Yes - in the beginning. Early progression and playing with friends was fun for a while. The loot slot machine had me addicted as well.
Did I feel my money was well spent?
I'm conflicted here. Clearly I put a lot of time in, so there is some value in that. But I feel like the money I spent sent a very wrong message to Bungievision - that what they did was OK and people will buy anything. That worries me.
Did you put in more hours then most games?
Yes I did.
When new content arrives will I play?
NO WAY IN HELL. I preordered the expansion pass, so I will check out the new raid in HoW. But after that I won't spend another dime on this game unless massive fundamental changes are made.
There's no doubt the universe they created is very compelling, but the execution so far has been so piss poor that I refuse to encourage more of the same by giving them any more money, UNLESS things change in a big way.

You never played the new Duke Nukem

I would have to say that yes, this game is very disappointing. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good game. Its a great game that's filled with disappointment. From empty promises to broken mechanics. There are plenty of problems with this game, but its still an amazing game. It still pulls me in to accomplish my dailies and weeklies.

GoW judgment was a pretty big let down for me. Story was alright. Only thing I loved though was overrun mode. Dark souls 2 was also a pretty big one. Though I still bought all DLC and play it every now and then because who knows when xbox will get a new souls game. BF4 was. It had plenty of things done right. Just a few too many wrong things. DMC reboot. Self explanatory. Resident evil 6 was fun. But really lacked the puzzle/horror elements. Warframe. No problem with money shortcuts. Have a problem with the bugs and paywalls. Halo 4. Amazing story. But they really blew it with the severe lack of options in custom games. MP was sub par but enjoyable at times.

Not a dissapointmen to me. I tend not to play and or troll forums of games I dislike.

Banjo and Kazooi: Nuts and Bolts

Cod ghost was a big dissapointment for me. I found last of us and that game had me entertained for over a year just from multiplayer

Edited by duewhaa: 2/5/2015 5:11:35 PMAlready commented but I just want to make sure. Is this your first console? Maybe the 360/PS3 gen? Just want to make sure because I'm willing to bet you haven't been playing games for too long lol

Well I like destiny a lot. Just this past year ESO was a big disappointment. I don't see why people spend so much time crying and don't just find a game they enjoy
-
Play sonic '06 then talk about disappointment
-
Just wondering why you still play everyday
-
Don't play the game if you don't have fun. Check out Dying Light, or something.

This dude is so right From E3 I thought that Destiny had great potential, and since Bungie made it the legendary creators of Halo, I thought to my self "hell whit it I'm going for the Limited Edition" Boy was I wrong! No other game in the history of games have never disappointed me as much as Destiny! And what goes for Bungie, my respect for them are pretty much none existent!
-
Can't really be disappointing if you have over 350 hours.
-
I too bought the 100 dollar version of the game and I too will not be buying anymore dlc from them.
-
Ghosts was SOOOOO cool!!
-
I've been disappointed with games before too. I usually don't play them for 100's of hours and then troll the forums though. If you are disappointed, sell it and move on. Do you also do Yelp reviews like this? " I've eaten every day for the last 120 days at Applebee's, and I am disappointed. It seems as all the have is the same thing I order every day. My friends go there with me too, and they hate it. I hope Applebee's isn't open for another 10 years, or I'm going to be reallllllly sick of it."

Destiny is the most enjoyable game I've played since FFXI. It's top 5 all time for me

Edited by abakai: 2/5/2015 5:28:42 PMDefiance. Never been more disappointed in my life

Judging by your replies to others, it basically sounds like you're going to stick to your guns and deem Destiny is the worst game ever. That's your opinion, obviously not shared by many, many others. So instead of trying to hammer your opinion on others and convince them that it's the worst game ever, why not just, you know, leave?

You're gonna love HoW so much your dick will hurt and you'll be oozing doe to them hahahahh
-
I agree it's a pretty shallow game. Lots to fix and a lot more to come. I already bought HoW but am unsure if I care to play lol. Wouldn't be the first time I grabbed a season pass just to pass it by. Shovel + money+ fire. Ugh lol.

The points you made are valid and I agree with most of them. But I look at it this way: Did I have a lot of fun? Yes Did I feel my money was well spent? Yes Did you put in more hours then most games? Yes When new content arrives will I play? Yes If you answer yes to those, then IMO destiny was successful even if you feel the way you do now. And we all know that if the developers listen to what we are saying the follow through the sky is the limit for destiny and I think that is driving force and why we continue to play. This game has many flaws.. But you must admit there is something special here and there biggest challenge will be if they can continue to roll in fresh content. Iron banner alone will not do it.
-
I still like it and I've been here since day 1. If you want a good story then go read a book
-
Yes this game isn't how they said it was at E3 etc, but it's definitely not a disappointment. I've played this game more than any other game, period. Yes very repetitive, but I keep coming back for more and more.

More than that stupid Duke nukem game that took 20 years to make? Nope
