its almost always better to run them without it for a grenade build, the 40% is a bit much, but I understand the issue is for pvp, a great fix for it i think would be shatter kill when in a duskfield give grenades energy(or when you have duskfield grenades on) , and also will be just as good as strand armor, cause the uptime will be just as good as they are, and it wont ruin pvp, because on a hunter its pretty hard to freeze a target. I think this is a much needed change for the exotic.... the cost is way to damn high in pve, and the damage reduction is a worse version of the strand woven armor.
can argue why its a good or bad idea in the comments, i don't think bungie actually looks at the forms for exotic advice tho. renewals where only really good / broken for 1 week before bungie over nerfed them for pvp.

In PvE use frostees. With the right build you can have a max over shield and 2 duskfields at the same time. Way better than renewals. For PvP use it with foetracer ( I know it’s weird but hear me out). You know where people are at all times. Tick damage from grenade, dmg from melee and foetracer. Use a sniper and have fun. If you don’t want to be weird like my friend. Use renewals with good team of other renewals hunters.

My guy stasis as a whole needs changes, unfortunately they kinda abandoned it, those of us who still main it don't even expect anything, here's upvote anyway tho

Edited by Kiro - 13: 7/2/2023 1:30:59 AMThey need to increase the effectiveness of duskfeils and slow over all not just with the exotic. Not an increase to the duration but the amount at which it slows you down(titans & locks just skate, hop, dash thought it like its not even their) and increase the recoil/flinch value when effected by slow. I mean your supposed to be flinched to the heavens if you try to challenge while standing in a duskfeild. But I know we all experienced that moment far to often when they just stand in it and proceed to never miss a shot. Its got nerf'd by 45% with Lightfall which is fine but with a massive nearly 50% cool down increase you need to add improvements in other areas. Not just curb stomp it into the dirt then leave it, which is what Bungie did.

I'd be fine if they removed the cooldown penalty while in pve and maybe buff the DR in pve.

I have been working on said build trying to figure out the gameplay loop… with some success. Getting my grenade back in about 5-10 seconds. Using a chill clip fusion in my first slot is key.. creating frozen targets. Use the grenade proactively rather than defensively. Ie the enemy outgoing 50% damage reduction is far better than 25% damage taken reduction. I have paired this with la monarque for tick damage on frozen targets. I am liking it so far… Looking for secondary to kill faster and has a healing or land tank perk. A lot more fun to play than the stasis lucky pants/maleficence build but that build is a dps freak.

They should add the text "defeating slowed combatants grants grenade energy" Makes it amazing in PvE without really changing its viability in PvP (even if the DR is awful now down to like what 5%?)
-
Yeah, “Kills on targets affected by Depths of Duskfield” would basically fix it. Have it give 10% energy when you kill an enemy that’s inside your grenade. Promotes offensive use and would make it much easier to use in PvE.

Edited by Lord Indra: 7/1/2023 6:43:54 PMThey chose not to fix it. Proof is that kickstart mods and class item mods give higher percentages of ability energy in PVE than PVP. Rightfully so. So it’s clear that ability refunds are differentiated depending on the mode. Renewal Grasps having a flat out increased cooldown means they never wanted it to be viable in PVE like it used to be. They seem to be reeling in on busted grenade builds, so Renewal Grasps being a niche build now kinda falls in line with their “vision”.

They where so OP for pvp man. 7 melee hits to down a guardian. Can't see a scenario in which anyone would use them for pve over other hunter exotics.
-
Make kills reduce the cool down or just remove it the only thing made it a pain was glacier for shatterdive because it made the explosion bigger and bigger glacier entrapment but that was nerfed so I don't see a issue with the removal of the cool down now
-
bungie just has a habbit of over nerfing things when there really good.

Edited by Honed: 6/30/2023 8:27:03 PMoh and it took them a year to finally address the cooldown bug. its still awful overall... dose not feel as fun as running it without renewals. cause base cooldown, you can throw your nade and get it back before the cooldown is done, witch is so much more fun. renewals feels more like a downgrade to your grenades.
