Our first-party lineup is a little sparse this year so I think this places an even greater emphasis on getting good third-party support."

Speaking today during Sony's annual Investor Day conference, PlayStation president Andrew House acknowledged that the PlayStation 4's first-party lineup for this year is looking "a little sparse." For this reason, House said Sony will need to lean more on third-party games in the short-term.
"We are working very hard to continue very strong support from third-party publishers and developers," House said. "Our first-party lineup is a little sparse this year so I think this places an even greater emphasis on getting good third-party support."

House said Sony has an advantage in this department due to the fact that the PS4 is the leader in the current-generation sales race with more than 22.3 million consoles sold.
Two high-profile first-party PS4 games recently delayed to 2016 include Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and the new Ratchet & Clank. This year's remaining PS4 first-party lineup includes titles like Tearaway Unfolded and God of War III Remastered, as well as whatever Sony might announce at E3 next month.
"I think that E3 this year will be an exciting show," House said. "I think it will be a show where we see the next generation of hardware really start to deliver great content and experiences that, if not take full advantage of the platform, take a lot more advantage than we've seen before."
But House points out that Sony can still benefit from multiplatform games, provided developers make use of system-exclusive feature or provide some content exclusively on PlayStation. This was the case with Destiny, which offered a range of timed-exclusive content for PS4 that made Sony's console "the best place" to play the game, House said.
"Rather than seeking for complete exclusives, we have looked to publishers to really try to maximize the use of the feature-set on PlayStation 4 versus the competition. And I think that the use of Share and SharePlay functionality, those have been sort of defining platform features which can be seen not just in first-party content but across the whole range of titles," he said.
"I would also say that we are not without partnerships in the area of third-party titles," House added. "Which are not necessarily around full exclusivity."
Looking ahead, June's Batman: Arkham Knight will offer some content first on PS4, while Sony has also said it is treating No Man's Sky basically like a first-party game.
Also during the presentation, House mentioned Street Fighter V, which will be released exclusive on console for PS4, though it's also coming to PC. Complete exclusives of this nature are becoming increasingly rare, House said, due to rising development costs, among other things.
Modificato da Aik: 5/31/2015 4:14:58 PMIn this generation people bought new consoles for the completely wrong reason; either getting caught up in Sony's E3 momentum, or for that one game that looked really cool. Here's what I play on my PS4: Shovel Knight - bought it a couple days ago and I'm on NG+ Spelunky - I play it frequently since it released Binding of Isaac - play it infrequently since launch Destiny - occasional play, usually combined arms or some clash Dragon Age - I always had trouble with my first character (Mage in DA games) but I'll play a warrior soon Witcher 3 will arrive this week Thief is a fun stealth game if you don't expect much from it Bloodborne was amazing in the first play through but it's not as fun as dark souls to go back to, for me Child of light was a one play througher for me, but it was really great Contrast was good if you like stories (I love reading books) and it's cheap Bound by flame was a cheap (in terms of design) RPG but I didn't hate it - I actually had a bit of fun Rogue legacy is a cool platformer which I may come back to over the years Assassins creed 4 was a game I was only going to buy cheap because AC3 burnt me too harshly, but it made me happy Guacamelee I played on Vita but it was cool to go back to and beat again - really fun metroid-vania Velocity 2X is a super fun time trial game - addictive as all hell trying to get top spot Pixeljunk was fun to beat too - right amount of difficulty to tight controls for me Transistors was just alright, as a strategy liver it was not meaty enough Mercenary kings was pretty fun when nothing else was out and it did the right things as an arcade game Secret ponchos is great but needed a bigger community - maybe it has one now And I still have a lot more years with this generation to go so really I think this machine is more targeted to people like me (I don't expect anyone to be reading this, but if you do I hope you are willing to have a closer look at some of these titles, there isn't any shovel-ware out yet) I don't have a gaming computer so having lots of PC ports doesn't upset me because I wouldn't otherwise experience most of them

Current-gen has been pretty disappointing as a whole for me. Admittedly, Destiny and Battlefield 4 are really the only things I play on my Xbox One (Destiny's gameplay is at least fun to play, and BF4 is working fine now). I sold AC: Unity a few days after I got it, played through the campaigns in Master Chief Collection, matchmaking didn't work, matchmaking still doesn't work for me even with the patch. Bloodborne is really the only PS4 exclusive I would play. Things that looked interested turned out to be not very desirable, and I don't really find any multi-plats to be worth my purchase. MGS V and maybe Halo 5 are the only games I'm getting this year.

Game devs have to recreate all their textures and models for next gen..how tf does you people not know this
-
Greatness is still waiting
-
And they're still beating xbox by millions. Sucks to be MicroSoft
-
Playstation? More like "what do I play now" station
-
Both current gen consoles suck ATM.
-
Well For Sony in house games this year I agree but still the third parties have lots of exclusives for that consoles

-
They admitted to lacking but still dominates. Lost title always. And the gaming industry seems to be in a low anyhow. So blame the developers
-
Still outsold Xbox one by 8-10m aswell. Wow what a console?
-
Yeah man. This years E3, there are going to be some great games coming out. I know that Microsoft has a great 1st Party Support line up that will be reveiled during E3. Sony has been lacking a bit in there line up, history in the console market has shown that consoles that don't have a strong 1st Party backbone will be doomed to suffer the same BS that plagued consoles in the past. You know Dreamcast, though inferior to PS2, managed to stay alive as long as it did because if a few 1st Party Games, although in the end, the hardware just wasnt there, it shows that you shouldnt neglect those parties. Yes, sony is ahead in the game, but Microsoft has the deeper pockets.
-
Xbox1 isn't much better either! Quiet year all round
-
Sonyponies on suicide watch.
-
Hopefully the PS4's success doesn't make them complacent. And with a year where Bloodborne released I don't know why people would think their lineup is lacking. I'm not seeing what Microsoft or Nintendo put out this year that surpasses Bloodborne in quality.
-
Show me those Japanese Sony exclusives plz
-
Modificato da Tu Chocolate Caliente: 5/30/2015 12:55:16 AM*comes back to thread* *wasn't disappointed and many keks ensued* Lel but to be honest hopefully they have something to show at E3 besides Exclusive DLC content like muh ArCUM knight and Destishit.
-
Not that Microsoft's lineup is any better.
-
Still choose to play my ps4 over my xb1 because the titles suck for it.
#learntospell
-
Well hopefully they don't take 4 years to start pumping out exclusives like last time. All of Sony's studios are making PS4 games, yet we don't know anything about most of them. We don't even know what they are. This is a big chance for Sony to reveal lots of them at E3 next month.
-
Ah well guess we won't be hearing about The Last Guardian at E3. I would be happy if sony only released one exclusive masterpiece a year. We got Bloodborne. Not much else this year on the exclusive side, but good multiplatform games such as MGS.
