Think of it this way
When people dream their dreams may only be 24 hours but they feel longer(or shorter)
this is why people in comas may think they only were out for a night
Death is like eternal sleep so if a person falls asleep before death their conciseness may last to them even after they die
why?
Because time in dreams is relative
think of it this way
bob has a dream for one second in our time before he dies
in bobs time though it lasts forever
and also with quantum physics anything is possible tbh
Edit2.0 No one likes my pun in the tag? LightningPhilosiphynix? anyone? *grabs Knife* Yall better start laughing real soon or your consciousness will be in another universe

Expect when you die, your brain stops getting blood, resulting in your subconscious and conscious ceases to exist

I'm pretty sure the definition of death contradicts this quite clearly. Sure consciousness continues to exist after you die, it's just not your consciousness.
-
Well when you die, your brain stops functioning, therefore consciousness stops. So even if everything above is true, consciousness would shut off exactly when the brain stops either way.

Modificato da Sacrilege: 11/10/2015 9:18:30 PMScience has stated that right before we die idk how much time it was exactly but we see yourself from beginning to end in minutes who knows you could be dieing and reliving every moment in just minutes

"when people dream their dream" I just noticed that

But signals in the brain can only move so fast.

*puts on an antic disposition* I see your point but you're wrong. Let's go with a scenario. You die in your sleep after 4 hours. While thanks to that dream relativity it could last for what feels like a long time, but in reality you are still only sleeping for 4 hours before dying. Meaning that there would still be an eventual end. Also even what you said goes against your title. Your theory wouldn't be "consciousness after death". It would be a nearly infinite pocket of time before you die.

This does not really hold up to anything, and is based on a lot of assumptions. I would not put too much thought into it.

Death and sleep are not very similar. In sleep, your brain is still active. Sleep is a minor mystery, with conventional wisdom being that it is used to clean and organize thoughts. Perhaps the brain needs to "defrag" to operate efficiently, and sleep is how it does this. While this is going on, the brain still functions, and that includes dreaming. Death would mean the brain has no activity. Nothing analogous to a dream could happen inside the brain. However - who knows - learning that the consciousness can continue without the brain would be surprising, but stranger things happen in nature, such as quantum entanglement. Everything is impossible until it isn't.
-
Can you explain it to me simply? (I know nothing of quantum physics.) My understanding is that thoughts/consciousness is a product of neural activity within our brains. How is this possible once that activity ceases?
-
But we can measure brain activity of someone who is asleep and dreaming. We cannot do that for someone who is dead. I mean we CAN - we can measure it, but it'll be zero.
