Destiny 2 Beta - Subtitles are visually jarring
The black background box for subtitles is visually jarring compared to the polished look of the rest of the UI - I understand the need to make the white text easily visible, but slapping a big dark box around it is like looking at an MS Paint cutout pasted into a carefully photoshopped sunset.

I don't get why game developers have such a hard time designing good subtitles. This is a big problem in a lot of games and only very few actually have nice subtitles. DVDs have solved this problems 20+ years ago, why not just do the same?

I don't like the D2 subtitles D1 subtitles are way better

At least they're better than the Destiny 1 subtitles.

I haven't seen the subtitles, but from what you are saying the black box should be an additional setting, along with text on no background.
