This story was told to me by some old friends of mine.
There was once a small young family of three. A father, mother and daughter. The father worked a lot, and didn’t spend much time at home. The mother spent most of her time cleaning and getting her PHD. So the daughter mostly played by herself in her upstairs room.
The daughter really wanted a sibling, or anybody to play with really. Her family lived 15 miles from town, and not many people had automobiles. To relieve boredom, she often played with her dolls, giving them names of her make believe siblings she thought of.
One day, before her father got home, she was playing in her room. It was just like any other late afternoon, and she heard her mother call from downstairs, “Dear, dinner’s ready!” She put down her doll and was about leave her room when her mother walked in from her bedroom. She shushed her daughter and said in a whispered voice, “don’t go down, I heard it too”.
Sorry about the abrupt ending, I tried to make it 3 paragraphs long.
