I'm sure you already have a bunch of people doubting you and to be honest I myself am skeptical. I could easily say "put your money where your mouth is" and in a sense, I am telling you that. But Joe, if you happen to see this there are a number of things I gotta tell ya.
1. A map pack while all well and dandy is not good enough. I'm just going to say it like it is. A simple 4 or 3 style map pack is not going to be good enough for PvP. You need to continually bringing new maps and bring back all the old maps we lost. There is also the fact that you cannot simply remove maps from rotation for normal game modes. For Comp and Trials I understand but for regular Crucible, it is completely unacceptable.
2. A PvP strike team is a fine, but unfortunately is still unacceptable. Strikes teams are temporary, you need a completely dedicated PvP team. And no the community doesn't want to hear your excuses as to why it cannot be done. Destiny NEEDS a dedicated PvP team. PvP is what we play during the dry periods and is an integral part of the game.
3. New game modes are great and should be added into the game. However, that being said, they should be made into their own dedicated playlist. Meaning if you want to play Control you play control, you want to play Clash, you play Clash, you want to play Rumble, you play Rumble, so on and so forth. You did it with Destiny 1, I'm sure you can do it again. If you have to set it up the way you set it up like in the Halo days, then do it. Quick play just isn't it, dedicated playlists is a much better approach.
4. Nobody, and I mean nobody, likes the fact you are locking the coolest armor behind Eververse, and while you have said you'll occasionally make an armor for the Eververse and earnable, that shouldn't be the case at all. ALL armor should be earnable, the same goes for shaders, sparrows, and ships. Keep your emotes, your weapon and armor skins, and Ghost projections in Eververse if you want. Hell you can even keep your Ghost shells in there. But armor and shaders should NOT be in the Eververse, especially the cool looking ones. Make them ALL Ritual Playlist armor. Maybe one set for each game mode, like one for Crucible, one for Strikes, one for Gambit, maybe a daily ritual story mission, a daily ritual Nightfall and you rotate them each week. Just make it so we can EARN THEM.
5. You said you were going to change the seasonal model. My advice to you is to get rid of it entirely. Whatever you were going to put into a season, make it part of a giant expansion. Trust me, we'd rather play an expansion with a lot of story with plenty to do than be drip fed content for months on end and having to go through a battle pass.
6. Communication between the community and Bungie should 100% safe. That's not always going to happen, especially when you livestream. So ya'll better have good mods. And Joe, I recommend bringing some of the other developers with the Destiny team on stream to play with you. Let us get to know you, so we can in turn learn to trust you more.
There's more I want to say, like dedicated servers, bringing back old content (Red War. Curse of Osiris, Warmind, FORSAKEN), the state of the engine, but that will all be another time. This just touches on some of the points you brought up. So please, put your money where your mouth is and show us what you got Joe.
If you think about it this game should probably try to get to where it has a ton more maps than it does currently just because that seems like the Destiny thing to do. But nothing is going to be helped if maps just get spit out sloppily. And some of the old maps really could have trouble with some of the new subclasses.
As far as the strike team not being a long term team. That's kind of to be determined because maybe it will be so good it will almost have to stay in some form. Either way it's an upgrade.
Dedicated playlists and increasing the amount of player choice would most likely help too. A lot of that stuff is population dependent but there has been times in the past where people on whatever side of playlist and matchmaking issues didn't want to give an inch. Hopefully going forward the playlists and general communication will do a better job of helping people understand how what they're playing works.
Armor for me is an interesting subject because I can remember when people cared about it far less than they do now and yet people say the game has done nothing. It's so much cooler than it used to be but I have a hard time getting mad about how it's distributed. I also have a hard time telling how much more or less armor we are really getting from reading what people say about it.
Seasonal model is something that some people apparently like. I don't really understand the focus on it if it isn't someone's cup of tea. Of course there's always improvements that can be made but it plays a very obvious and specific role and yet people judge it like it's raids.
As far as the streaming and stuff hopefully its just the beginning of the kind of communication environment everyone deserves.
