My Exotic Glaive Rework/Buff Wishlist for Christmas
Hello all,
I am an avid Edge of Action user for PvP and Trials, because I'm bored and the little bubbles are funny, and also I believe if I can't use anything I want to beat my enemy then I can't truly win, which is a little narcissistic.
Naturally I'm interested in the other exotic Glaives as well. So, thinking about the upcoming buffs to these I decided to make a Christmas wish list, which these changes are scheduled to be somewhat around Christmas time I think and also because it's a good title for the post.
Yes these are absurd ideas.
Edge of Action: The idea for this is a close range unbreakable rock pushing the front line and supporting your team. I interpret the poor stats to show the developer thought to be that you're so close range that you don't need the range and AA in the first place, while sporting the best Shield Duration in the game.
- Big stat buffs. To elaborate on the previous statement, This Glaive has the worst stats in the game for Range, Reload Speed, second worst AE, and the worst Aim Assist by a LARGE margin. This thing has 30 AA, the next lowest is the Edge of Intent at 50, and it just goes up from there.
- Specialized Glaive instrinsic, Increases Shield Size horizontally and allow allies to shoot through your Shield. Shielding allies reduces Guard meter drain. Playing into the idea of being able to push from cover to cover with your team. (Probably toxic asf in PvP idk, maybe reduce DR)
- Add Void Surge x3 to those who pass through the Remote Shield. This would mirror Ward of Dawn, and we know how Bungie loves slapping surges on stuff. It can turn it into endgame PvE utility for DPS in raids, or handling champions as a team. This also promotes coordinated loadout opportunities, as well as a good self buff in general.
- Allow the Glaive's melee to pass through the Remote Shield. This is something that becomes very apparent once you actually use the weapon. Have you ever punched a Titan in PvP behind a barricade and your melee doesn't do anything? That's because the barricade ate it, and that happens a LOT with the Remote Shield and just feels sucky. when your own ability makes the melee useless.
Note the Shield Duration is the highest in the game, which is pretty cool.
- Secondary Trait options: Unrelenting, Replenishing Aegis, Threat Detector, Impulse Amplifier
- Catalyst (Third Trait) options: Surrounded, Unstoppable Force, Destabilizing Rounds
Edge of Intent: The idea here is to mirror a Well of Radiance, playing into the aspect of a Warlock's vast toolkit. This would allow the warlock to be a team healer, while not being pressured so much into using Well of Radiance and making the choice to use Daybreak or even another subclass more of an option.
- Rework the dinky Restoration Turret into a mini Well of Radiance, healing allies in a large rift. The turret has several problems, such as only targeting 1 guardian, the healing orbs having inconsistent timing when hitting you as well as just being slow. Also it can be shot and destroyed by allies as well as enemies, and has less health than a Child of the Old Gods apparently.
- Specialized Glaive intrinsic, acting like Super Heal Clip. Considering we have a healing auto rifle in the Final Shape, this could add cure and restoration to self and allies upon reloading after a kill. Also maybe adding Restoration/Cure to shooting allies, playing into fragments. We have Navigator now so why not?
- Add Solar Surge 2x. This change seems a bit obvious, matching the previous Edge of Action change, while the 2x being lower than the 3x of Remote Shield also matching Well of Radiance's buff being smaller than Ward of Dawn.
- Stat improvements. It is not as bad as Edge of Action, though due to the difference in frames, this has high range and not-awful AA. However it has a pitiful 4 Magazine size and the lowest Handling in the game.
- Secondary Trait options: Thresh, Ensemble, Immovable Object, Impulse Amplifier
- Catalyst options: Wellspring, Incandescent, Golden Tricorn
Edge of Concurrence: This Glaive differs from the two others, focusing primarily on offense and mobility. This likely won't be as end-game PvE viable as the other two as they focus on utility. However its a little known secret that this Glaive is a certified banger in PvP. it sports a respectable TTK and great stats, with an exotic ability that is really good at catching people off guard and taking out supers from a safe distance.
- Minor buffs to the stats. Primarily an increase in AE, this could be paired with Stompees and their future change in particular, but generally aiding in the idea of a quick jumpy hunter, and for increased versatility in general.
- Minor rework to the Arc Seeker. Split the one seeker into 3 like Dead Messenger, but still retaining tracking, and chaining arc lightning between targets like Trinity Ghoul. Also an increased AOE radius and damage to play into the idea of taking down groups.
Note that the damage numbers might make it less consistent in crucible, my best idea is for a LARGE buff to tracking to aid in hitting a single target. Note you can still shoot someone directly for a kill whether they're in super or not, though I know that's not Ideal.
- Specialized Glaive Intrinsic that grants Guard Energy on Melee hit. This will go hand-in-hand with traits and allow for a more combo-focused playstyle. perhaps 50% per hit for a 2 melee 1 shot in PvP that fills 50% of the charge meter.
Note - Lucent Blades in theory wouldn't work here so that energy economy might be weird.
Note 2 - I specifically said on melee hit because this Glaive is actually decent for single target focus. While I don't recommend poking a boss, this glaive has adequate DPS surprisingly, with large reserves. You can get the full seeker damage plus the damage of your ranged shot if you hit your enemy directly, which also gives you charge back. With 2 lucent blades and 6 in the magazine, you can shoot 3 regular shots, shoot 1 charged then 2 regular, reload, 1 charge 2 regular, repeat.
- Secondary Trait options: Tilting at Windmills, Unrelenting, Grave Robber, Impulse Amplifier
- Catalyst Trait options: Voltshot (dunno if works with Grave Robber, ideally does), Close to Melee, Frenzy
I tried to give an equal amount of love to all 3 of these. I primarily use Edge of Action like I mentioned before, but I don't think it should have any sort of PvP angle despite my insistence in using it. There's a small group of Edge of Concurrence chads that love it in PvP, and it is literally the only reason why I have played on my Hunter in PvP in recent times. The Edge of Intention just needs some love honestly, that turret sucks so so so bad.
Yes, this is how I decided to spend an hour and a half of my time. I would love if Bungie took inspiration, but not only do I doubt they see this in the Feedback section, but I think whatever Exotic Glaive buffs we have coming are probably mostly set in what they want the improvements to be.
