Finally fixed my daughter's destiny zoo problem (caterpillars, baboons, etc) and comcast with technicolor modems.
Solution was to set up a separate router using tomato or dd-wrt and a vpn account with IPVanish.
I am visiting my daughter right now here in San Jose, CA. I saw first hand how often she would get kicked out of destiny. She was getting booted out every time she tried to join a public event, or even randomly in the middle of a strike. This was happening every 15 minutes.
What I did was to get an Asus RT-66U router, install tomato shibby on it, put it right in front of the xbox 360, and set up a vpn link (openvpn) to IPVanish's servers in Seattle. We've been playing all day today and destiny has been rock solid.
Also, I had brought down another xbox 360, I also set that one up for myself to play on. For this one, I used an Asus RT-N16 router flashed with DD-WRT, also set up to vpn into IPVanish's servers (this time I tried their San Jose servers).
Both of us were able to play all day on destiny without being kicked off even once!
Total cost : around $100 - $150 per router,
$6 per month for the ipvanish account.
Being able to play Destiny uninterrupted: priceless sigh of relief!

Ooooor, Bungie could FIX WHATEVER ISSUE IS CAUSING THEIR SERVERS TO BE SO SHIT. I hate to bitch and whine so much, but when you're constantly getting booted from a game to the point were it becomes unplayable and then they tell you it's your fault even though you have ABSOLUTELY ZERO ISSUES WITH YOUR CONNECTION WITH ANYTHING ELSE it kinda pisses me off. I shouldn't have to drop $100+ just for my connection to work with ONE GAME.

I just posted this on Bungie +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I realize this may not fix everyone's problem but it did mine: Xbox 360 Like many I was plagued with drops. My ISP is Comcast. I had a Comcast issued Technicolor TC8305C cable modem/WiFi router (not using the phone modem feature) using a wired connection. After trying every possible setup I started looking hard at how this cable modem behaves and what problems were posted about it on the internets. So I had a little extra cash to burn and wanted to upgrade my WiFi anyway, so I went big and replaced the TC8305C with a Motorola SB6141 Cable Modem and a Netgear AC1900AC Nighthawk WiFi router. Problem Solved! I just finished a 3hr session - ran VOG with 5 others and not a single hiccup. That's a first. Check your ISP. They should have a list of approved cable modems (truthfully any should work, but save yourself some headache) The SB6141 is solid. If you need a WiFi router you don't have to all out, just get what you need.

Eh... I fixed my problems with port triggering when I had that modem. Though, I finally ended up upgrading to extreme 105 and was so happy to get rid of the technicolor gateway once and for all. No worries now.

Being able to play Destiny uninterrupted priceless
"priceless" ... hardly, you already brought one of the mor expensive games ... and now to pay another bundle of money ... and now you are willing to pay a monthly subscription to play this game ??? Sorry, but this sounds very much like an attempt to get a reaction from forum members. Plus all you have proven is that bungie have send the TTL far to low on their packets ... reduce the number of hops and the game works.

Modificato da EventualTitan97: 2/2/2015 4:16:30 PMA non-techno speak version: Go to this link: Http://www.ipvanish.com And sign up for an account. (Note: they have discount codes every now and then. Just google for it) Then go to this link: https://www.ipvanish.com/flashrouters.php And buy a preinstalled router (They have the same Asus models I used). Install the router with the single WAN link connected to your comcast box. Connect any of the 4 LAN ports to your xbox. Flashrouters has more tech support help if you need it. And you should be done.

even if doing all this works, the fact that we have to spend all this EXTRA money and go through such hassle just to play the game is just ridiculous. we shouldn't have to go through all this bullshit just to play. if I would of known it was gunna be like this I would of saved my 80 dollars. its just pathetic.

We use an apple router. My wife and I play, so we're running 2x PS4 at the same time. It took me a bit of digging on the internet but I basically just set up individual IP#s for each PS4 and then got the ports to forward from the Sony support website. Maybe have an issue once or twice a week. But it seems to be more on the server side than out connection (entire raid team being kicked) Doing this got NAT Type 2 which seemed to be the issue.

Though i apreciate your advice, its also obvious you r an IT person and the layman has no idea what any of that means. Also, am i to understand you spent $150 bucks to play destiny? Now thats dedication.

The technicolor in general doesn't "play nice" with Destiny due to the firmware in it.

That's awesome that you were able to fix your connection issues. I seem to keep getting errors especially in the weekends for some reason. Per the bungie description the reason I get is that I am trying to connect through a mobile/cellular service. I am on broadband cable not mobile/cellular so I don't see how I keep getting those errors, bee and baboon I think were ones I got. I am running both my PS3's in wifi since the router, a Netgear wndr3700vr1, is in another room but now I'm thinking of running cables to them to see if this fixes my issues. Having the cable guy come check our my network since it's not only destiny that I am having issues with. Wifi drops sporadically and the cable wigs out whenever someone in the room gets a cell phone message. Quite annoying since this had recently started happening about a month ago. Maybe my router is on its last legs or the modem is?

I wish I understood what you said. Reminds me of Finding Nemo - "It's like he's trying to speak to me. I know it!" I had massive problems before Christmas. Then, nary a problem until 2 days ago, when I got several. We'll see if it continues.
