For the most part Atheist and Religious people fundamentally think differently
[u][b]Atheist thought process vs Faithful thought process[/b][/u]
I was just curious if everyone understands that whichever side your on both sides fundamentally think differently. [i][u]Keep in mind this is a generalization it is not absolute.[/u][/i]
The traits below are not qualities you acquire by having the belief rather people that believe these things tend to have these qualities.
[b]Atheist[/b] - Logical, needs proof to accept something, thinks scientifically, questions everything to every detail.
[b]Faith[/b] - doesn't need anything but faith, scripture and God/Gods (depending on your faith). Anything outside an individuals faith is essentially false information. (So technically you aren't supposed to question your faith or look outward)
They way both sides think contradict each other therefor the other sides point will always be invalid. Thus, leading to the endless debates that go in circles.

What you have to understand is that atheists also have faith. Many of their "facts" are only theories. Like the carbon dating of dinosaur bones, or the theory of evolution. Evolution: scientists say it would take too long to directly observe it. That means they have to have blind faith in it, same goes for the big bang. Theists: have theories as well but also some scientific proof too base their faith on. faith isnt faith without something to base it on. I will admit that many theists dont know enough to have an actual strong faith

1 返信I've met some pretty illogical atheists in my lifetime, many of whom accept scientific laws/theories that haven't been 'proven', who rarely question everything to detail. I've met some "Faith" people who've questioned and argued over many things - including things within their own circles of faith, who don't see stuff outside of their 'faith' as being false information because to do so is literally impossible.

In a forum wherein you're supposedly attempting civil discussion, your leading post shouldn't be riddled with jabs and opinions. The way you generalize faith penalizes anyone (apparently) indignant enough to have faith in anything, whereas you paint a lovely picture for atheists. I couldn't give much of a shit about God or religion but it seems to me you're being an ass.

2 通の返信I disagree completely. They have much more in common than they realize. It's like when Catholics and Protestants argue over faith or works even though as the Orthodox Christian looking in, I can recognize that both of them are more similar than they think in that they share the same presuppositional Anselmian view of Salvation as a mere acquittal verdict and Penal Substitutionary Atonement. They are two sides to the same shared coin. That said, Atheism is an outgrowth of Western Christianity. It cannot exist except in a society shaped by Western Christianity and its ideals of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. The entire notion itself of religion as an affirmation of belief is the product of Calvinism. Again, the same coin. To a Hindu or even an Orthodox Christian looking in, the differences between atheists and the religious--Western Christians--aren't so evident, and you actually identify more similarities between them than anything else. It's about presuppositions and preliminary worldviews that people of the same region often share without realizing it.

2 通の返信I am religious, and totally disagree with faith. You can't Stereotype whole groups of people under one category. I treat Christianity like historical Fact rather life-changing. I belief in some parts (if much at all) of the bible that seem believable. I don't think that God created the world in 1 week. I believe that he created life, but the worlds are all natural formations. His early life eventually evolved to us

Many Christians I know accept many proven theories (e.g.: evolution) and either link them to their belief or accept it, rejecting the old explanations of the bible. Any sensible person wouldn't take the old testament literally anyways.
