You can thank my dad for the title - he says that to me when I'm being a tightly wound jerk.
I want to go on record saying that I enjoy Destiny immensely, and while Bungie has had some challenges over the last year, they are generally doing a great job. Why do you ask?
I am an...older gamer (I'm just leaving the 18-34 demographic) and with age comes...other things so I don't play destiny for 8 hours a day. This helps me to appreciate not feeling a "grinding" feeling that makes me harbor resentment towards getting a certain weapon, etc. I've played enough video games to know that these weapons are little points of light emanating from your TV. They're not real. Chill.
I have also been able to see the video game industry evolve over some decades and I have NEVER seen a company (Bungie) so actively involved with their fan base. Who else does live streams to show new features and content and answers questions live (albeit wryly) directly from the chats? Bungie is listening. Many of the changes have been great. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. My brother and I still joke about still playing the game with 5 bounty slots...lol.
I have a degree in Art. I love character design and this gorgeously dangerous universe Bungie has created. Now, another forum is required just to discus whether or not video games are an art form, but I think they are. Writing. Acting. Design. The difference is that video games are guided experience, in addition to rules of the created universe, there are some principles the artist intends/implies as well.
Bungie wants you to grow to legend. My opinion of a legend isn't the person with the baddest weapons or best gear. I guess you could be a legendary loot head...
Legends are smart. Legends can figure out how to deal when life hands you green emblems. Shard that shit. Use it for something else. The weapons are nerfed. They should be; in a weeks time there will be a whole slew of new stuff to seek out. By the time Destiny 6 rolls around "Gjally" will be an old slang term for someone who could only cut it with the best gear equipped. Can you cut it?
Stop staying and complaining. That is no fun. The best complaint is to walk away. Delete your accounts if you're so angry over it all. Bungie will see the activity and make decisions.
As for me I am content. I love change, good and bad. Bad change tests my mettle and good change keeps me going and gives me steam.
See you on the Dreadnaught - so excited!
