I'm talking about the Pocket infinity. You know. That year one fusion rifle.
I think it needs to come back!
It was my first exotic and I used it within the first weeks of Destiny. It slowly became one of my favorite exotics. Then it got nerfed and left behind.
I recently rediscovered it and in my opinion it should come back. Also it deserves a huge buff.
At the moment it's statewise the worst fusion rifle in the game.
Low charge rate.
Low impact.
A almost non existing stability
And a magazine size of 3
But that's balanced out by the perks right?
Not really. Yes it can shoot fully automatic, but additional to the already low impact, follow up shots deal reduced damage.
But shots that miss return to the magazine!
True but the chance for that is something like 25%. Which is not that helpful and barely noticeable in a magazine of 3.
So what do I think they should do with it?
First point: buff the magazine size.
Second point: remove the damage reduction. The low stability already balance that. There is no need to reduce the damage.
Third point: Buff the chance to return shots. Again the low stability balance that.
Fourth point: Buff fusion rifles in PvE. Almost nobody uses them. They can't compete in raids.
Let me know that you think!
remember that's my opinion. Feel free to post yours below
Edit: Thank you guys for your awesome feedback!

A Year 3 version of Pocket Infinity would be absolutely amazing. It should have a buff to stability but not so much as what can happen with 77 Wizard or the Thesan. It should have more stability than it does now. But the gun is a super fun gun to use, even if only against Level 2 AIs on Patrol Cosmodrome haha

Ah I look at that gun when I go through my vault sometimes waiting for it to be useful again. They nerfed the crap out of it and then nerfed it even more with the dumb fusion nerfs. Also it's buggy as well and they never fixed it. Poor Pocket Infinity.

As a mainly PvE guy, the big point in the post is that there are so many exotics that are now useless in PvE due to PvP nerfs... exotics, especially back when we had to do bounties to get them, should be feeling over powered... isn't that the point, and why we can only equip 1?!?! Bring back Suros, Thorn, Vex, Pocket Infinity etc to their original glory... but in PvE only. Recent patches have shown they actually can differentiate between the two modes, so there's now no excuses.

I feel fusion rifles are really scattered right now, either being a ht or a miss. In crucible, I mostly use plan c or darkblades Spite when I am in the mood. Plan c just personally slays as an exotic for me while darkblades spite is probably a secret gem in pvp. It has great range, impact, and with fitted stock makes this a beyond proficient choice to use normally or all the time. After playing a few iron banner matches this week, I was really surprised by the amount of fusion rifles I saw, mostly being killed incessantly by plan c. I then decided to jump on the bandwagon with darkblades and saw great results. I think fusion rifles have been lost for a while, but by showing people I play with the success rate, it almost sad when they try it out and see great results, being shocked. In a land where snipers and shotgun doodles are high, fusion rifles really take a back seat or at least it seems that way. In year 3, I really want to see more fusion rifles that bring something new to the game so we can see even more and all 3 options for specials are even across the board.

with the titan playstyle its the perfect choice I played that with my titan last month I m the truly pocket infinty lover my ps4 account is the pi in person :D

All it needs is to be infusible to Year 2 levels, Year 3 when it drops. It's fine as is and still melts. I got it the day before the magazine nerf in Year 1 and I wrecked so many matches with 3 in the mag and perfect balance. I wouldn't complain about a buff, but I don't really think it needs any.

I also used this weapon, mostly in the crucible during year one, though it was very fun to use, it was also very lethal and unbelievably op lol Even if they brought it back, special ammo doesn't spawn like it did year one, thus the weapon will run out of ammo very quickly. still would love if they brought it back tho.

Best used walking up to a servitor. Loved it, but yeah too many issues. Not to mention the stability was crap back in the day. That's why only good for big targets...

Hey Guardian. I'm a big fan of the Pocket Infinity. Also one of my original go to exotics in the Crucible during year one. It truly was a little overpowered before they adjusted its stats, but for a confident fusion user that didn't actually change how useful the gun was in the crucible. The thing that makes the Pocket Infinity not viable in the crucible was the changes to the special ammo crates. I'd love to see Bungie stats when that happened because absolutely the entire community put it down when this happened because the weapon is known to burn through ammo like crazy. In regards to the stats themselves, there really isn't anything wrong with this exotic. As an exotic it still maintains a very unique feel and is heads above the best exotic Fusion Rifle (Yeah I said it). Plan C is great, but honestly outside of the perk to draw and fire immediately it's outdone by Thesan for power and range and (after the recent FR adjustments) Long Far Gone and Panta Rhei for speed on normal charge. This is of course with good rolls. Back to Pocket Infinity it's missed bullet reload is far above 25%, you can tell this by the audio queue when you fire the gun. It's archetype is unique because it's a slow initial charge rate which would make you think it should have range but it doesn't, probably because the follow up shots are instant so acts like a fast charge Fusion. It will make people disappear at close range no question and the pre charge is different because you can actually start firing before you or the enemy round the corner in a preemptive strike. The stability is for the user to handle due to this but as I said it's a close range Fusion so this shouldn't be that tricky once you're used to the kick. Pocket Infinity is a gun that is just truly fun to use, and if you really want to see that, pull it out next time Mayhem is on as I always do and surprise Year 2 players who have never been melted by the glory that is. Feel free to offer any feedback on this, I really liked this post.

I use it now in the crucible and if used right it -blam!-ing wrecks anything especially shutting down roaming supers which is super fun :)

I use it all the time in mayhem where ammo is abundant. I put on glowhoo and have a lot of fun!
