Bungie, grinding and gambling are two differerent things.

Sick and tired of Bungie's pathetic attempt to create a grind. Grinding has a purpose, there is always a positive result. If there is a large diamond stuck in my back garden and every day I only get to dig a couple of feet down until I reach it, that is a grind. If I dig every day yet every day there is only a 50% chance of it being there that is not grinding, that is gambling. The idea of calling Destiny a grind is false. The "Insane" achievement on Warcraft is a grind, the skills learning process on EVE Online is a grind. Destiny's loot system is gambling, you can spend however long, weeks in fact doing end game content and not actually gain anything, not even 1 light level increase, this is stupid. Bungie got away with it for a while but more players will leave the game for longer and in greater numbers, especially after Bungie showed how it could be with the April update. Before that people wouldn't miss it because they'd never had it. That's no longer the case.

  • Gambling is wagering money or something of value with the hopeful end result being more of that thing, but the knowledge that you might not get it (obviously paraphrased definition is obvious). In other words, there is no guarantee. The only thing that you're wagering in Destiny and it's loot system is time, and in time, you'll have a positive result. That's a guarantee in an RNG based loot system. How is that not grinding again? You could always...I don't know...stop playing Destiny, too, I guess.
