What's this clickbait title mean? Back in D1's early life the Gunsmith offered only uncommon wares (and the occasional rare fusion rifle) that were capped at a low level. As a result fairly early on the player would lose any use for him. The same thing has happened to Holliday. She only has use to those who have yet to acquire ships and sparrows from Eververse. At a point I literally forgot she was a vendor. During some mission I remember thinking, "How come Holliday isn't in the Tower" then after a second realizing that, oh wait, she is. No vendor should be like that. Although I have a proposal to make her useful again without stepping on the toes of Eververse.
Holliday is a mechanic and a sparrow enthusiast. Many people are upset about the recent event sparrows being 150 speed Tuned Drives rather than the much rarer and more practical 160 speed Custom Drives. What if you could get Holliday to upgrade your sparrow? It is a custom drive after all. Not for free of course. What if Legendary sparrows dismantle into a new material called "Sparrow Parts" or "Engine Parts" or whatever. If you have a 150 speed Legendary sparrow equipped and visit Holliday she will offer to upgrade your sparrow to 160 speed for a cost of Legendary Shards and Sparrow Parts (say like 5). This lets the player use sparrows that are locked behind timed events like Faction Rallies or the Dawning without "handicapping" themselves in terms of gameplay.
In addition perhaps let Holliday re-roll the perk on your Legendary and Exotic Sparrows letting players truly customize their sparrow (or probably just giving everyone Transmat Preloader) for a cost of Legendary Shards and Sparrow Parts as well. Although probably at a higher cost than simply improving its speed. These two changes allow Eververse to remain primarily a cosmetic supplier of Sparrows while giving Holliday control over their gameplay benefits. It will still take a large amount of unwanted sparrows to customize the one you want, so it will always be better for you to get lucky with RNG. This also makes getting duplicates or sparrows you don't like seem like less of a wasted engram and more like contributing to the goal of improving your preferred sparrow.
