[spoiler]This is part of my What If series. I change stories in Destiny so that they end different. It is similar to the Marvel show of the same name[/spoiler] Vraax was a Vandal when he found the piece of the Great Machine. But when he approached his Captain with the information and demanded he become a Captain, he was docked and his Ether supply was cut due to insubordination. His Captain then stationed him as a lookout. What this meant for Vraax was that he was cannon fodder if anything were to come. Being stationed in the Dark Forest was an extremely boring job. Nothing exciting ever happened. Vraax wasn’t paying attention when he heard the leaves crunching. Curious as to what it was, he snuck up to where he heard the sound. And there it was. One of the Protectors of the Great Machine. It was heading to the piece of the Great Machine. Of course he would wanna protect this piece. That’s when Vraax got the idea. Killing the Protector would grant him the rank of Captain, maybe even Kell. Vraax had heard stories about how the Protectors came back to life if they were killed. Vraax didn’t believe this information. When the Great Machine was above Riis, it never gave any Eliksni the power to live forever. And besides, the way this Protector was limping through the forest made Vraax confident he could kill it. So Vraax grabbed the nearest wire rifle and lined up the shot. All it would take is one shot. Vraax couldn’t wait for large Ether rations. He began to squeeze the trigger. The Protecter was down in one shot, just like had predicted. It was time to brag about his kill and become a Captain.
