Over the past couple of years I’ve been hyped ever since I first heard rumors of an Obi-wan Kenobi show being discussed by Lucasfilm. When those rumors were finally proved to be true and the series got approved the hype got even better. Fast forward to when the trailers for Kenobi dropped the series looked phenomenal. It had Ewan McGregor the -blam!- beast himself looking great, the Grand Inquisitor looked like he was going to be insane (despite him looking nothing like his species), and Darth Vader looked like he was going to be better then ever in this series (he ended up indeed having some of his coolest scenes in here). All that to say when the actual show dropped it was terrible.
Obi-wan is nothing like himself, he lives on Tatooine spending his days cutting meat and getting scammed by his employer. Whenever he sees someone in need he doesn’t help and instead leaves them to fend for themselves which goes against every aspect of what his character should be. I figured ok rocky start but the rest will be good, it wasn’t. From there it only got worse. The whole plot revolves around Obiwan tracking down 10 year old Princess Leia after she gets kidnapped when she’s running around the woods alone without her parents paying attention. 10 year old Leia has one strike against her just being a character because every time Star Wars centers a production on a character under 20, the bad and cringey child actor ruins the whole thing (Looking at you Phantom Menace). Leia’s character is also poorly written and unbelievable. At age 10 she’s already supposed to be as mature and smart as all the adults around her and she thinks she can take on anyone. Her whole character comes across like something out of Young Sheldon instead of a big Star Wars production.
Whenever the heros are bad in something like this show, it’s not a complete loss because the whole thing can be redeemed by a great villain. This was not the case at all here. The line up for villains consisted of Darth Vader and the Inquisitors who are force-sensitive beings that are trained by Darth Vader to hunt Jedi. On paper these villains sound insane and they seem like they should pick up the slack for the lack of good heros but they don’t. Darth Vader is the only thing done well about this show but he spends 10 years hunting Kenobi just to walk away and leave him in the third episode when he’s completely defenseless. The Inquisitors where there should of been great characters consisted of C-tier villains at best. The Grand Inquisitor who’s proven to be a threat before gets killed in the second in the second episode and doesn’t show back up till the fourth where it’s revealed he somehow he survived. Reva, the third sister, has the most screen time out of any of the others but is done very poorly. The acting for her character is B-tier at best and her character is poorly written. Her story had a lot of potential as she was a youngling in the Jedi Temple when Anakin, aka Darth Vader when on his killing spree. Reva only survived by faking her death and hiding among the bodies of her friends. This event filled her with hated for Vader and a need for revenge which gave her a reason for being in the show. The reason they gave for her hunting Kenobi with such hatred however is weak at best. It’s then revealed later that Darth Vader knew she was alive and he not let her live but go on to join the Inquisitors for no apparent reason. The final two Inquisitors are really only side characters with one, the fourth sister, barely saying a word and the other, the fifth brother, acting more like your little sibling who wants his turn on the Xbox then an actual threat.
The whole plot of the show is boring at best with lots of holes in it and for a show named after Obi-wan, he takes a back seat for most the show and isn’t used to his full potential. For a well funded production from a big studio like Disney, it ends up being just another boring spinoff.
Also Disney, 6 episodes does not qualify as an actual season and how do you still not know how lightsabers work after owning Star Wars for years now. In one scene you have people using it like a laser sword or glorified base wall bat that barely scratches anyone who’s slashed by it then in the next scene you have someone cutting through metal blast doors. Use them how they’re supposed to be used

I can't believe someone would say this, the Star Wars community is so toxic!
