I received this message the other day upon logging in:
WARNING! This account has a consistently unstable Internet connection that is affecting other players. If this continues, the account may be restricted from matchmaking against other players.
I went to check my internet speed - it sat at around 10 mps. I am rated for 250 mps through my ISP.
I reset my router and it seemed to fix the issue. A new speed test confirmed 200-250 mps both yesterday and today.
I figure I was put on some sort of list for bad connection, and repeated latency issues could result in a ban or restriction. I'll be more vigilant in the future about resetting my router more often. I just want to be removed from any sort of low threshold list. I have not yet received a ban or restriction because of it, but I want to avoid receiving one, as I love playing crucible and against other players in Pvp.
I've read the troubleshooting guide, and will take some of those steps into consideration moving forward. Please know that I did not mean to have bad connection, and I only forgot to be more vigilant in resetting my router and checking my speeds. I'll be better about it in the future.
Heya SoundestBonjai -
Sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with your connection. Rest assured you won't get banned for a bad connection, though a time restriction is possible. This outcome is typically a last resort and the team that oversees this area in the game is very understanding and only gives out restrictions in situations where it's absolutely warranted.
While I can't make any promises or guarantees, I do think that you have nothing to worry about as long as you continue to be mindful of your connection and do what you can to remedy any connection issues when they do come up. Moreover, I'd like to add that connection warnings only apply to players in PVP modes, so if there ever comes a time when you can't fix any connection issues for whatever reason, just steer clear from PVP and you should still be good to play other parts of the game without fearing any possible restrictions.
