Microsoft has pushed the launch of the new Xbox back to next month, according to "sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans" quoted by The Verge.
The software behemoth had reportedly been planning an event later this month to unveil its next-generation games console. This has been shunted to 21 May, according to the report, but no reason for the shift was given -- if the April date was ever even accurate.
Anyone else think Microsoft may have gotten cold-feet after the Adam Orth incident; pushed the date back to let the dust settle a little bit before the reveal? That or they could have always intended to reveal it in May, and April was just speculation of us gamers being preemptively hopeful.
Either way, there is tons of drama surround the new Xbox at the moment, and none of which sounds particularly good. I have a strong feeling that they did push the launch into May to relieve some of that bad vibe that resurfaced again. Thoughts?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. -blam!- Microsoft. I'm getting a nice new gaming PC.

I'm kind of agreeing with most of the people here in xbox vs playstation. In my opinion, the 360 is superior to the ps3 easily, however I'm leaning towards the new playstation instead. Playstation 4 is looking pretty good coming up, especially after going to the devs of games and asking for help in building their next system to be overall better. The xbox from what I've been hearing is going to be more family geared and not really upgraded in power or graphics. Also from what I hear neither are backwards compatible. Now yes these are mostly rumors, but nonetheless microsoft refuses to debunk rumors at all no matter how outlandish they may be. Even the ones like you cannot play a preowned game on their system. You could probably spread a rumor saying it is part toaster and they wouldn't deny it. Now they "may" have pushed back their date? This is simply terrible, I have no faith in the new system at this point and will be massively surprised if they can pull this off and actually rival sony again.

I really hope that the new xbox wont have the always online drawback. Some gamers such as myself may not have the best internet connections and thus may not even be able to play a single game. What if we just want to play a game in offline mode lika a campagn etc? Will we not be able to?

Ill eventually get the Xbox simply because I don't like the PS controllers, that and I have no intention of starting a new profile from scratch.

Not really caring to be honest. I'm thinking about getting a PS4 more than the next Xbox if I do decide to get a next generation console.

Fireduneにより編集済み: 4/8/2013 9:42:47 PMhopefully it's because they're working on securing some more resources for the 720 because of the sudden doubling of the Ram on the PS4. That extra ram is a big difference especially since it's Gddr5, and I wonder if the PS4's CPU can actually take advantage of it and not be the bottleneck... Regardless, since 360 exclusives are going down the tubes, it's going to be which multiplat titles will work better with which console; (IE Destiny). To be perfectly honest,If i hadn't made as many friends as I have on the 360, I'd switch in a heartbeat now, especially since Halo is no longer appealing to me anymore...

Drama aside, maybe Microsoft always intended to reveal in May. You don't push around a date as important and with as many things riding on it as the announcement for a new gaming platform off just because one of your employees said something stupid or another company made a similar announcement. I wouldn't be surprised if a May 21 announcement (or whatever day it ends up being) has been on the calendar for a year or so in advance.
-
As it said, it could have always been set for May, so don't read too much into it and think it's because of this whole recent ordeal with the 'always-online' fiasco.
-
What if this whole "scandal" if you could really call it that, has caused such a backlash that Microsoft has decided to rethink that aspect of the new system. They might not have actually been planning the always on feature in the first place. But, maybe they'll change their minds if they were.

I live in Wyoming. We have slower internet than most Alaskans. NeXt Box will be "always online". Well, looks like no matter how much I love Halo, I won't be able to play it anymore! Thank you Microsoft for implementing such a customer-in-mind decision like this that will of course benefit the gaming community as a whole!

My faith in MS is at an all-time low now. I'll get the new console, but only for Halos 5 and 6, if nothing else looks good for it.

M$ is going to shoot themselves in the foot if they let Sony bask in the adoration for too much longer. They've already delayed too long. Not giving any response to the bad PR rumors mucking about is only hurting their position more. It's all silence and secracy, both of which are going to end up hurting the console sales.
