Weems, a Marine and Iraq war veteran, and another man were attacked in a Huddle House restaurant parking lot by up to 20 people.
Police say that McMillian and others may have assaulted the victim because he was white.
Weems says he was warned by African American patrons at the restaurant, that the place was not safe for white people, because of anger over the police shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
Article reports that a former US Marine and his friend were assaulted by a mob of over 20 people. Before entering a restaurant he was warned that it 'is not safe for white people', and after getting into an argument in the restaurant, he left for another place to eat where he was followed and assaulted.
I heard reported on the tele that he is in need of brain surgery. No word on his friend. Still looking for an internet source declaring his need for a brain operation.
Edit: Source 2 indicates a need for a brain operation for Weems, and that his friend suffers from broken bones. It also says his friend is a USAF veteran.

TunnelSnakesRuleにより編集済み: 8/27/2014 3:53:16 AMJesus Christ Black people are setting themselves back. If this shit continues then I think a certain degree of racism is fair. I'm no racist but I'll be a liar if I say my view of African Americans isn't diminishing with every story related to the ferguson shooting. Don't these people know what they're doing? Don't they know that this sort of retaliation over a justified shooting hurts all people of their ethnicity and reinforces stereotypes about them? Also 20 people assaulting two men and a veteran no less? Why? That's just straight up pussy shit.

KingKrownにより編集済み: 8/27/2014 7:48:51 PM*Shakes head* ...People acting irrationally. That was just foolish & ignorant. We should be the last group of people trying to single out a person for race. That guy had nothing to do with that Officer & Shooting.

CoherentBadgerにより編集済み: 8/27/2014 1:36:46 AMAnd this won't be reported on by any of the national news stations. Just like this http://m.jsonline.com/more/news/milwaukee/126828998.html It was reported locally for a long time, but national news? The mob was maybe mentioned, but that's really about it.

Someone told not to enter a restaurant because of race. Gets the shit beat out of them. Man, this sounds so familiar, but I can't place my finger on it.

Capiton Renderにより編集済み: 8/27/2014 1:44:40 PMWay to be racist guys.
A grand jury will determine whether the beating was a hate crime.
Seriously, they said it wasnt safe for white people, what else would it be. Its just some race relations.

When will they realize that their african ancestors fought so that the future generations didn't have to fight over race. They fought for equality not to put the shoe on the other foot. What really grinds my gears is that it's the younger generations that are starting the hate again.

That's unfortunate. Very much so. What I don't get, is why they thought beating a white man would solve the racial problems that are currently plaguing our country. Acceptance is key. Not more murder. These people need to be held responsible, just as Darren Wilson should be. We should have moved past this shit 50 years ago people.

Racial segregation and bigotry is disgusting. But trying to pretend that it doesn't still exist to some capacity is naive at best. Dude was warned. Dude thought he was somehow going to break the mold as if he was some trend-setting freedom fighter, or somehow immune to the facts. And dude got beat down. He learned a lesson that day.
Knighten and Weems decided to try Huddle House nearby, in spite of a nearly vacant parking lot a few minutes after 1 A.M.
While this is a tragedy, having an altercation then going to another restaurant that is nearby and that is nearly empty in the middle of the night isn't smart. It's like walking through every sketchy back alley in a city at 2 am expecting to get home safely.
