I started watching Raid videos to prepare (our clan is a bit behind, yes, had to drag some lapsed members back to Destiny). But after watching merely the first Warpriest fight, I'm already exhausted by all the mechanics. Go here in this order, then do this is this order, then memorize this order and this sequence, blah blah blah. I know, send the hate, I guess I'm old and tired, but I don't know if I've got 9 more years of complex Raid sequences in me.
But beyond me being a lazy scrub, I think what I really prefer is a more open-ended encounter where we just have to figure out an efficient way to kill the boss that works for us, not just decipher and memorize a sequence of dance steps that Bungie has predetermined. It feels weird and completely linear. Anyone else feel the same?
I know Crota Raid got really specific about having to beat it one way and only one narrowly controlled way as a response to Bungie feeling like they didn't control the Atheon raid enough and players were being too clever figuring out ways to do it that Bungie didn't intend. But overall I prefer that kind of system, tho Bungie clearly does not.
Is this destined to be the path for future raids, do you think?
