So for the uninformed, #ElsaGate is a hashtag that's been garnering a lot of attention recently.
It relates to a recent internet phenomenon where a bunch of supposed "kids channels" have begun popping up on Youtube and uploading videos (both animated and live action) containing or at least referencing explicit/adult content.
Subjects contained include:
Belly Inflation
Amputated Limbs
Partial Nudity
Simulated Sexual Acts
Scat
Bondage
Sexual Assault
Murder
Cannibalism
Dismemberment
Bear in mind that these are videos specifically targeted at children.
It goes deeper as well. A lot of the channels have almost identical video thumbnails and titles, indicating that they might be related. Another thing of note is the sheer amount of views these videos have. A lot of them have millions.
Basically, there's a ton of mystery surrounding this and no one really knows what's going on. Several theories have been put forward, including the theory that it's a group trying to make a killing off of Youtube's ad revenue system by manipulating the algorithm, and the far more malicious theory that it's a cover for some kind of massive pedophile ring.

Personally, I'm going to be keeping my eye on this as it develops.

Some people have too much time on their hands. But I should keep a better eye on what my Nephew watches when he is visiting. He has been normally watching Netflix, Hulu kids. He has been watching people play video games on those channels though.
-
Is it too far out to assume it's probably just some people trying to -blam!- with a system for the lols? Because I can almost guarantee that random people on the Internet don't really care about your children.

I've been on yourube for about a year now hunting down channels and blocking them out right so my kid doesn't see this shit. Its -blam!-ing weird. Its like a new age pedophilia to prey on kids through YouTube for views and likes.
-
YouTube couldn't give less of a shit, unfortunately. Those videos bring in the views and thus the big bucks, and so they have no genuine incentive to try and stop them.
-
Something that’s really interesting is that the original channel that uploaded the leeroy Jenkins vid has turned into that after 9 years of inactivity. Very sketchy shit.
-
Lol and Youtube monetizes them while things like Pokemon channels are demonetized for being too “conservative.”
-
Oh these things have been going on for quite a long time now. It's terrible, and very inappropriate for children 100%
-
Heard about it from H3h3s podcast this week (ft Post Malone). Wtf is up with people? Not only are the videos effed up but so are, some of, people commenting on it.
