Look I know Bungie has their hands full with fixing this game, but dedicated servers are an absolute MUST in order for this game to continue. They got away with it in D1 because of the year it was started, but this is 2018 and dedicated servers are a norm now.
For Honor did it, they went from peer to peer to dedicated servers, so it's possible.
Am I the only one who is tired of meleeing someone and for them to have half an hour to melee me back? How about the Iron Lagfest that is Iron Banner, or competitive, or even quickplay. And lets not forget about lag switching, and DDoSing. All would be fixed with dedicated servers. Bullets that don't hit you behind walls, sniper shots that connect when they're supposed to, Melee Supers that actually work properly. How has Bungie gotten away with this for so long.
And if they really can't change it in D2 because the network engineers effed up and can't change anything without breaking the whole game, fine. But I swear to all this is good in this world, if Destiny 3 doesn't come out the gate with DEDICATED SERVERS I ain't touching it. You better start now Bungie, or you'll forever be left behind.

작성자: viraltaco 10/15/2018 3:33:37 PMTL;DR: If you think many guardians are "lagging" all the time than go set up your router properly and use ethernet. We already have dedicated server. Every time you press X (or square) to do an action (eg: deploy ghost to open a door) the physics host(s) contacts the Activity Host which isn't a console or a pc; It's a Bungie server. Peer to peer is used for the rest not only because it's more consistent and FASTER than dedicated servers (unless you live on the same street as the servers and use the same isp) but also because the game couldn't exist with only dedicated servers. The dedicated servers (Activity Hosts) can hold around 10,000 players at any given time. That's just not possible if they have to hold all the physics and mission hosting. Not to mention the insane amount of money they would need to make that happen. Unless you're ready to pay a thousand bucks a year to play this game you're essentially asking Bungie to give you money. If Google made Destiny it would still use the same network configuration. All that said, there are always multiple physics host in any "bubble" (instance), especially in pvp. Meaning that at any given time you are NOT experiencing any more delay than any other guardian you're fighting. Every player during a crucible game eventually becomes the physics "host" (there are more than one, all the time. This is why if someone drops/disconnects you won't be looking at a black screen for 10 minutes). EDIT: Need to mention this is true for Destiny 1 and Destiny 1 only. Destiny 2 basically already uses dedicated servers to an extent. Players with a worse connection will suffer from thanks to the new netcode… Basically, since the hit registration is hitscan, the player who sends the damage numbers first will win the fight all the time. Doesn't matter if you are facing a guy with a sleeper simulant who is lagging out. The shot might go out of his gun on his screen and you won't be hit by it because he's already dead to the server. This wasn't the case before. It means it makes your experience pretty much horrible if you have a shit connection but significantly better if you don't have a bad connection. So please DO use a lagswitch if you're a cheater, it will make you an easier target until you get banned.

Everyone in charge of making decisions at bungie needs to be let go. We'd all be better served if they made career changes. Food service, retail, detailing cars in a lot somewhere...

destiny 2 PVP is a joke as long as it is so easily exploitable. There is no excuse, other than being cheap. At least destiny pvp managed to be fun sometimes in spite of the pathetic p2p - it is truly amazing how d2 pvp can manage to be so broken after 3 years of "tuning" in destiny.

If you think Bungie has their hands full fixing this game you're misinformed. The only time they pretend to give a shit about this game and community concerns is when it's time to sell you something. They still haven't addressed the slow TTK that's been a concern since release and there's no way this game ever gets dedicated servers. -
Last night in crucible i had someone disappear when i went to sword them. They appeared behind me. I sworded again and then they appeared to my side then killed me. Was amusing i must say. I did see the comical side to it. Frustrating that its happening but at the same time, getting upset wont do anything

작성자: RavenousLD3341 6/12/2018 1:35:56 AMHow funny. Bungie is still using ancient P2P trash multiplayer services, AND charging $70 to play Destiny for another year. What in the actual fuk? AND *Stifles laughter* and.... *snickers* people are defending it. Wanna know what has Dedicated Servers and free DLC?
Battlefield V
Seeya there. The spoiler below is a reply to another post in here somewhere.
1. Dedicated servers are inherently more secure. Currently with Destiny's ancient P2P trash your public IP, and the public IP of all of the people in your match are visible to everyone in your match. With that information it's absolute child's play to kick people out of a match, or gather their information for more nefarious means in the future. For example........ ISPs public IP addresses are divided up by region. So it certainly won't take long for me to figure out not only what country you're in, but what city you're in. From there it's pretty easy to figure out which house is yours. Seriously, you think your ISP gives a crap about protecting your information LOL! 2. Dedicated Servers are more stable This everyone should know, but uhhh.... if 1 person has a high ping on a dedicated server, it's really only their experience that sucks. Developers like DICE have gone to great lengths to tweak things like hit registrations, latency compensation, etc.. specifically to punish high pingers the most. With the philosophy that other gamers shouldn't have to suffer for someone else's shit internet. 3.Dedicated Servers drastically reduce outlier scenarios. Things like getting shot around corners, or dying to invisible bullets are not completely eliminated, but drastically reduced. DRASTICALLY. Plus what matters the most in dedicated server layouts is your ping to the server, that's how fast your hits will register on every opponent you encounter period, because the SERVER DECIDES IF YOU HIT THEM. Not true in Destiny. You hit registration time can vary from enemy to enemy in the same match. -signed Someone who has a rack of Dedicated gaming servers in my fkn basement right now. (currently hosting Killing Floor 2, going to make a Factorio PvP server this weekend.)
Dedicated servers do not fix the problem. I have seen players lag time and time again in games with dedicated servers and in D2 dedicated servers would only mean more players in a area not the lag they have. The problem is not the servers but players not looking into their internet seeing that they have a problem and sorting it out. Too many players just see up/down speeds not the true cause of internet problems and the number of times I see someone on the #Help forum with a problem that a quick cache clearance would fix but reply "how do i do that". So servers are not the problem but lack of education or total denial that the player has a issue with their internet is.

Enjoy up-voting and getting your up-votes from people who say things like this:
dedicated servers remove any benefit from having faster or slower internet speeds...
Won't happen because it will expose Bungie for their "Rigged" Crucible matches. Your .0069 KD Game where you can't even fire a shot off... or after you land 3 headshots with zero damage.... is a result of Bungie's programming and has nothing to to with lag. Bungie controls everything.

Destiny 3 won’t have dedicated servers either. Bungie thinks their current setup is working flawlessly and always has been. How do I know? Because D2 doesn’t have dedicated servers and it’s 2018.

With Jon “true intrinsic joy” Weisnerfski at the helm crucible will always be mediocre. Also- Bungie is moving on from Destiny with a 100m Chinese project that has their main attention. Dedicated servers aren’t in this formula of mediocrity.
