I'm not leaving Destiny because of the exotic mission. I'm leaving because of the toxicity towards people with anxiety
For me, it's not even about the exotic class item or the mission. I've done raids and the like before, and while I don't prefer them, I can manage. At the end of the day, it's a video game.
But seeing so many high profile content creators, influencers, streamers, and social media users downplay and even joke about people with social anxiety?
"you're just using anxiety as an excuse to get hand outs"
"go play a single player game"
"if you can't do this then you have bigger problems in your life"
I've dealt with severe panic attacks and anxiety for about 15 years and can understand and empathize with a lot of people who deal with it.
When I see hundreds or even thousands of people agreeing with community members who are dog piling on individuals with actual mental health issues, I'm disgusted.
So, yeah. It's not about the game anymore. I can't continue to put myself in a community spearheaded by those that treat mental health as a punchline.
I get it, a lot of the content is focussed towards group content. as long as you can do that without needing to communicate as much, it's fine. But the moment people start being toxic, I want to just grief them..
Personally I don't have as severe an anxiety that it'd make me unable to play, But I have played with people who had such situations.. Receiving criticism through chat can be enough to trigger some people to panic, but there are too many players who don't care about such things. Or they only care once they realize someone actually has an issue..
Personally, I was on the verge of uninstalling because of pathfinders being so stupidly designed that it triggered the hell out of me.. But I love this game too much..
