What's with all the MLP references?
First the Deadshot Luna, now the Apple of Discord... Since when did bungie get over run by bronies?

Apple of discord is mythological reference. Eris, the Greek goddess of discord, wasn't invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. So she gave a Golden Apple to Paris. He was to give that Apple to the fairest and most beautiful person in the room. Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera were there. They promised him different things if they gave him the apple. He gave it to Aphrodite in exchange for Helen's love. Paris and Helen then go to Troy, and Hera and Athena are pissed off and side with the Greeks for the Trojan war.
