Stats, armor, and suggestions

So with the taken king being released we where introduced to a new mechanic for armor, infusion. This mechanic gave us more choices to what gear we use. Granted this is a very nice addition, especially when compared to vanilla destiny, but there are still many areas for improvement. So if you're new to destiny or haven't picked it up since launch there are three stats, other than defense, that are involved with your armor. These stats are intellect, discipline, and strength. Intellect allows your super to charge faster, discipline charges your grenades faster, and strength charges your melee faster. So now that we have gotten over the summary of these stats lets go over some ideas on how to improve this stat system. 1) Change it from armor: Removing intellect, discipline, and strength from your armor might be a nice addition to making your character feel like YOUR character. If you haven't caught on yet I'm talking about moving your int., dis., and str. stats to your character. This would remove the possibility of being disappointed with an awesome piece of gear as well as giving the player more options for the role they play. 2) Making it work: There are a few ideas that I've thought of on how to make this new stat system work. Let's break it down real quick. 2A) balance: Balance is something that I've thought of the most when thinking of this new stat system. The reason for this is that I wanted to find a way that any player could tell the difference between a hardcore destiny gamer and the casual destiny gamer, without stats becoming game breaking. I came up with one decision on how to make this work. Any player should be able to max all of their stats although it would be very difficult to do. Now before the only responses are terrible, over used insults in all caps hear me out. The maxed stats would only apply in PvE although the they would still matter in PvP. Imagine a rectangular bar with a line dividing it right through the middle. That line in the middle would represent the max that certain stat could reach when it comes to PvP. Of course there are other variations I have came up with but I don't want to spend to much time on this subject so let's move on. 2B) How to increase your stats I have came up with multiple ideas on how this could be implemented into the game in the most exiting way. The best idea I have came up with for this is mentoring. Let's say that you're a warlock and you want to increase your intellect. To do this you have to go to the vanguard and select a mentor. The mentors that you can select from are Cayde-6, Zavala, and Ikora Rey. Going back to the fact that you're a warlock that does not mean you have to choose Ikora Rey as a mentor, you should be able to have choices that define your character in the game. So you've chosen Cayde-6 like the rest of the destiny community and you're ready to progress. To learn from your mentor, Cayde-6, and increase your stats you have to train with him by going on certain missions. No not patrol missions, there would be story missions behind each mentor that would let you bond with these characters and learn about their history and how they got to where they are. These missions would be very difficult. If there was a raid that was meant for one person it would be similar to the difficulty of the later missions. After completing the story line with a mentor or wanting to leave your sensei you can decide to choose a new mentor who has a story behind them that is different but still bonds you to their character. After completing the entire story line behind a mentor you could unlock an exotic quest from your mentor. I'll go more into that in a separate post. 3) End So if you've read this far or have skimmed it what do you think? Yes I kind of got carried away with the story element of this new stat system....thanks if you've read the whole thing and I hope everyone has a good day!ed this is a very nice addition, especially when compared to vanilla destiny, but there are still many areas for improvement.
