Yeah, I'm the resident Titanfall fanboy. I have coherent thoughts and criticisms about Titanfall 2, though. Let's get into it. I'll split this up loosely into things I want to address.
The Campaign
The campaign was very fulfilling in some ways and a tad disappointing in other ways. Purely from a gameplay perspective, it's flawless, just great. Platforming, Titan combat, and Pilot combat all feel great in their respective sections, and no one set-piece overstays it's welcome. It's a well paced, well designed campaign with great gameplay.
As a story fan who wanted to see a great story with great nitty gritty lore details fleshed out, I was left mildly dissapointed. The tale that occurs is well written and acted, but it prioritizes the "buddies bonding" story arc over any major ramifications this game could've had for the universe of Titanfall. As a result, you have a good story, but one that doesn't really answer any of the questions the first game left hanging, instead posing even more questions.
Also, I'd like to talk about the ending. Don't open the following spoiler if you haven't finished the game.
If BT turns out to be alive in Titanfall 3, I will be upset. It's like a cop-out, they can't commit to killing him off and it's not cute by the 3rd time it looks like he's dead but isn't. If he were alive, it would just undo his character arc and Jack's character arc.
A couple of the Apex Predators aren't well fleshed out, namely Kane and Richter. They had the potential to be interesting characters, but they weren't given much to do except bark angry lines over the radio until you confronted them. Spoilers to follow.
Kane and Richter fail to be memorable because they don't do anything that effects you. Viper shoots down several militia ships and almost kills you and BT, plus he's badass and has funny lines, so he's memorable. Ash traps and toys with you, so she's a fun character to take out. Slone kills BT the first time, so you're motivated to take her out. Richter and Kane don't really do anything except threaten you, so it's not very satisfying to beat them.
All the other characters were great, though. BT was great, Jack had some good lines, Blisk was cool as usual, etc. Even General Marder was an interesting character, although granted, you had to listen to audio logs to flesh him out.
The Multiplayer
Just like the campaign, there are things I like and don't like about the multiplayer. I'll start with the things I like. The new design approach to Titans is awesome. I definitely enjoy the "hero shooter" element that named Titan configurations bring to the table. That being said, we need more Titans, so get on it, Respawn! I also like that batteries are how you regain health, and that shields don't recharge automatically anymore. It encourages more tactical play.
The new Pilot movement feels great. Pilots feel less floaty and more punchy, if you get what I mean. Sliding is awesome. Bunny hopping is great. Pilot tactical abilities are excellent ideas and excellent in practice.
Map design is where things falter slightly. The originally Titanfall had a 3x3 map design; 3 lanes, and three vertical levels. Titanfall 2 takes this formula and makes it janky. Some spots on maps have a 3rd vertical level but not others, lanes are weird sometimes, etc. That being said, I like most of the new maps, but I want Respawn to just replicate what they did with TF1's maps.
Free DLC is good too. The progression system and customization system are dope.
Let me know if you guys agree/disagree.

Better maps and more AI but increase the max score and the titan/pilot kill scores to balance the influx of AI kills. As for the story I agree it hoping we get some more story in the future. I wouldn't mind have ing to pay even though respawn has promised only free DLC content

We need more condensed maps. All but maybe a couple of the maps we have now are very wide open.

Edytowany przez użytkownika IMADAJ: 1/18/2017 6:25:12 AMI just want to ask, and I'm showing my age here, but did anyone else get the Richter Easter egg reference? I've been egging my wife for years with a movie line and was hysterical when it made it into the game the way that it did. I was even thinking that there was similarities leading up when *BAM* they came out and confirmed it.

I just wish it had more vertical maps. So many damn kill walls going up. Remember the last dlc with the cities? Remember that map that had that had a electrical hazard and ejecting got you insanely high? Your skills were the limit. Needs more wall run demonstrations. That forest map and simulator one. Where is muh frontier defense.
-
Only thing I miss from Titanfall 1 are the maps. They're so much better with a lot of vertical space and the bots played more of an effect in a match.
-
Imo the worst thing in the entire game is the map 'Complex'. -blam!- that map, all it does is promote A-wall and turret camping. Meanwhile Drydock is one of the best multiplayer maps in any game I've played.
-
For some reason I suck at tf2 but I was pretty decent at the first... I swear I can't get used to these maps.
-
But Kane committed a Genocide, his battle room is littered with scrapped titans.

Needs more petitions to nerf tone, devotion, G2, and hemlock
Lets start one now.
I still want to kill Blisk.

I was thinking about a Titan that just mass ejects Ticks or maybe Anti Titan ticks at you. Just like a Reaper with its annoying ass blair. Cool review brah

I really liked the story but I see what you mean when they didn't focus on much outside of the bonding arc. Regardless you have to admit it's not bad or really disappointing. Just not what I had fully anticipated. My pet peeve was that Cooper only spoke to BT. Anytime someone else spoke he was silent for no reason. Give me my characterization dammit

Edytowany przez użytkownika bemo: 1/18/2017 5:33:46 PMI dunno, man. Everyone seems to praise it, but it just seems like it's not just the game for me

Edytowany przez użytkownika ABeardedViking: 1/18/2017 1:32:54 PMRespawn already said they plan on bringing back more maps from Titanfall 1 so that should help with your map design issues

Fuck the Smart Pistol. Can't believe there are actually people who like it and defend it's existence. I found the factions to be kind of a mirror of Star Wars. The IMC are akin to the Empire, the Militia are akin to the Rebels, Titans are vaguely like Jedi/Sith (Kings of the battlefield), and the Fold Weapon was a mimicry of the Death Star. Story wise, TF 2 felt like Halo. People living on the outer colonies rebel against the core worlds, so a galactic civil war starts—UNSC vs Insurectionists/IMC vs Militia. A new breed of warrior is developed for a swift victory—Spartan Program/Titans, and an ancient super weapon that will change the tide of battle is discovered—Halo Rings/Fold Weapon. I enjoyed the story, but it didn't feel original which is why Respawn put Jack and BT's bond at the forefront and everything else back, I think.

I think Richter popped up near the beginning too, maybe as the guy who helped kill Lastimosa. Not too sure really, but he did cut off some militia rifleman's eat shortly after BT was first taken out.
