The main problem with Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby

I probably missed out on the threads about this when the games first came out, but It still frustrates me that they thought they could get away with this. Why did Gamefreak or Nintendo think they could get away with switching out the Gamecube in the main characters room for a wii u? I mean what kind of dumb ass thought that was ok? It makes a guy wonder, do they even care about us the fans? I'm tempted to say "No" after a slap in the face after this.
Anyway how did everyone else move past this? I'm seriously stuck, and don't know what to do.
