Dear all,
Unsure about the impact this will make, but I'm going in regardless. Hopefully you can help me be heard.
I write this message with a heavy heart, as a player who has dedicated about 8,000 hours on Destiny 2 since its release. This game has been a cornerstone of my gaming experience, bringing me countless hours of fun, camaraderie, and thrilling gameplay. However, this letter is not a celebration. It is a farewell.
The past few months have been an agonizing experience, encountering cheaters in nearly every match. It has drained the joy and passion I once felt for this game. The tools you have in place, like BattlEye, have proven ineffective at curbing the rampant cheating problem. The failure of your anti-cheat systems is glaringly obvious to the player base, yet it feels like nothing is being done to rectify it.
As a long-time player, it pains me to see a game I’ve loved and supported so deeply become overrun by bad actors who ruin the experience for everyone else. Worse still, it seems Bungie is more focused on recruiting new players and maximizing revenue than addressing the issues plaguing those who have remained loyal for years. It feels like you’ve given up on those of us who’ve been here the longest. How can I justify continuing to play when it’s clear you don’t care about the integrity of your game or the experience of your players?
Where is the care for player retention? For the community that has supported Destiny 2 with time, money, and passion? It’s hard not to feel abandoned when so little effort seems to be put into safeguarding the integrity of the game. So, it is with immense regret that I’ve come to the conclusion that I can no longer support Destiny 2. After all these years, I never thought I’d reach this point, but you have left me with no choice. I’ve uninstalled the game.
I’m not a streamer, a content creator, or someone with a massive following. I am, however, one of the countless “nobody's” who are the heart and soul of your game. We don’t bring flashy headlines or sponsorships, but we do bring something far more important: our time and our unwavering passion. We’re the ones who grind for hours, support your expansions, and populate your servers day after day. Streamers and content creators may amplify your reach, but it’s players like me, dedicated and loyal, in the tens of thousands, who are the lifeblood of Destiny 2. Without us, there’s no community left to showcase.
To my fellow Guardians: I hope for a better future for the game we’ve all loved. But for me, that future seems out of reach.
Sincerely, a nobody who hopes his message will be heard

Edytowany przez użytkownika stinkych33Ze: 12/19/2024 12:43:29 AMRight there with you, Guardian. I decided it was time to go cold turkey about 3 months ago. Deleted the game, filled its place with others. Haven’t looked back. I never noticed how monotonous and toxic playing that game was. It felt like a chore. I think the community has noticed too. 2 years ago, when someone made an “airport departure” post, people ridiculed them. Now, I see nothing but encouragement and mutual support. I’m proud that we’ve reached this level of support as a community. Sad that it’ll all end eventually. Excitement and joy in gaming has returned for me, and I should have made that choice a long time ago. Hope you can rekindle your love for gaming too. See y’all starside.

I feel the same . 8000 plus hours .Nothing was as fun as this game was couple years ago. then it was nerf after nerf . to many unless perks and weapons .nothing feels as good as wish ender did back then pre nerf. nothing gives me the wow factor, the fun factor like the game played then. l mainly just ran pve .gave up on pvp . bungie just never added any other way to grind for the light house other then the same 7 wins. making it next level rough against the small pool of players these days. so many things bungie could of done to make the game more fun but never did. all those raid weapons locked behind play walls if you don't raid. it's a waste of potential . who are they loyal to and what's the point anymore .players have left and continue to bleed out . that once shiny game is tarnished with unbelievable wrong turns.all my family and friends have long gone. I'm the last one hung around for the 7th gilded conqueror title. just cause. down to running strikes for no reason anymore. I'm not long from turning the lights out on destiny also.

Edytowany przez użytkownika TripleF73: 12/19/2024 10:46:16 PMWith over 6520 hours in D2 and D1. Nearly 4000 hours in D2, I feel your frustration. I gave up on PvP a long, long time ago. I mainly only dabble in PvP. That being said I couldn’t even bring myself to play IB to grab that rocket sidearm, Tinasha’s Mastery, simply due to the rampant cheating. The game feels dead. The bugs, the bugs, the bugs (mentioned 3 times because they are so -blam!- -ing prevalent), the tone deaf developer, the lack of respect for our time, the lack of decent loot to actually chase and the moronic reversion to the grind with minimal drops of resources in events coupled with “weight gate” and the worst RNG experience. My friend list is barren, I can barely be bothered to play. I hate the tonics with a passion. Bungie claimed that they wanted to simplify the game and the economy, then introduced this baffling, half baked buggy mess. Then gaslit the community into thinking it was better,(just like they said about crafting being removed.) They say it is now fixed. I very much doubt it. Given the appalling state of the quality control in this game, I have absolutely zero faith in Bungie to implement the changes in Frontiers. I will not be purchasing Frontiers and if Heresy is as bad as this season I won’t be playing much of that either, despite paying upfront for it. Tired of this company and the entire section of the community that defends their stupid decisions time and time again. Enjoy your Destiny retirement. There will be many who are following you. Myself included I suspect.

I am walking away very slowing and focus on reading.

8000hrs, impressive, I know its 8000 hrs of enjoyment to you,and not wasted time, but just imagine what you could have achieved if you spent 8000 hrs on something else, learning an instrument, a skill, an art etc, something you can carry through life that would benefit you long term, the list is endless, next time you think of firing up destiny, think about that.
-
I've tried to leave, but I end up right back here. Destiny 2, even though it has so many issues and lack of a soul any more, it still scratches that itch to explode aliens with space magic. I dabble in PvP when something desirabe is there, otherwise I'm a PvE main and I'm happy blow stuff up to unwind from reality. I hope you make the right decision, and maybe find a better game or hobby that values your time and creates passion for you.

Many players including me feel the same. It is certainly not easy to truly walk away from Destiny forever and not be lured back in with flashy trailers and empty promises of a brighter future from Bungie, but I wish you the best. Stay strong!

Fellow Guardian I totally agree with you! I'm so tired of facing cheaters and I'm guessing that cheaters are not isolated to just one area. The Asian pool the American pool all have cheaters that are just abundance and it's so discouraging. When we talk about cheaters in these forms the only people that say just get good are the cheaters themselves. I go up against cheaters and hold down my own but never enough to actually win things that I feel that I felt like is deserving of those who don't cheat. I always say what if there were no cheaters how great would I actually be at the top of the charts. But I'll never know the answer to that. Why doesn't Bungie just try harder and get rid of cheaters is it really that expensive.? I'm not much of a PVE person anymore. I'm grown Assad since I've been playing this game for over 8 years. I don't even know how many hours I put into the game but I can imagine it's a lot. I feel your pain bro and I'm like right behind you. And because they don't care about retention for Destiny 2 players I would never touch another bungee game like marathon. Like they're out of their mind if they think they can get us to switch to something else that they create. I'm always looking for suggestions for the next game and if I have to go back to Pokemon go a completely different Universe for an addiction I'll do that instead.

Over 4k hours here, and honestly everything you’ve said here I mostly agree with. I used to play D2 because it was enjoyable and fun, now I’m not sure if I’m playing it for those reasons or just because I’ve been playing it for so long. Most of my childhood D2 has been involved in, I’m almost believing it’s an addiction for me. If anyone has any tips on how to stop playing entirely, I’m here for it.

Breaking your Destiny addiction is one of the smarter things you’ll ever do with regard to having fun when gaming. Bungie ruined my Destiny experience when they decided to make the game an unrewarding slog I’ve quit playing Destiny & am having a blast playing other games. Take my advice & never look back

I feel your pain and frustration about Destiny 2. I have too moved on by playing more Helldivers 2 and rarely play this game except when I am helping the new lights or finishing up seals. For now I am trying to rebuild my bright dust fortune but even that is starting to turn stale.

Edytowany przez użytkownika GradeMyGuardianTTV: 12/18/2024 3:58:29 PMWell thought out sentiment! . Relatable although I'm coming from a PVE front & perspective. . Neglect is the buzzword that best describes the state of the game. . I'm concerned about the radio silence & lack of input regarding the persistent imbalances that plague the game. . My conclusion has been there simply isn't enough qualified staff that know how to interact with the game's coding to make the necessary adjustments. Who knows really though?

Good for you! Break free from Bungie’s indoctrination

Good time to get out, I am playing a lot of other games and it's just highlighting the problems Destiny has. I could care about the direction they are going, and the problems with the game, but I just cant be bothered. Not worth my time anymore, I am just getting the popcorn in for when the self interested streamers they seem to love so much hammer the final nail into the Destiny coffin. Since they got their way regarding "challenge" the game is a mess, it's why I just smiled today and turned the game off after my max power Warlock with 100 Resilience and 99 Recovery got melted by an Arc Wizard like a snowman in the Sahara. This is what we have come to expect these days, and it aint changing anytime soon. The game has had it's time and Bungie squandered it, most who have been here for a significant length of time have moved on, the rest will in time. You would have to barking mad to pre order, or even buy, Frontiers based on this companies track record over the last couple of years. Bungie once said the only thing they worried about was player apathy, well played Bungie. Mission Accomplished.

I have heard, or seen this sentiment a lot lately. So many clips and videos of hard cheats, that doesn't even include closet cheaters.. If this is the reputation that is left on Destiny, it's not a very good look for any other games i.e. Marathon. Battleye is the least effect anti-cheat out there. I really just can't understand why waste the paper to write them a check, much less the funds.. I really hope Bungie turns things around. (more issues than cheating) I keep saying that, and it's getting to the point where I realize it's just not going to happen. Feels like all we can do is just grieve and move on. /sad

PVP in D2 has been doomed to fail for very long time now. Its predestined failure is in its design. The idea of players with different weapons and armor sets proved to be a very bad idea. These that play often and have all, dominate and have fun, these that play occasionally and don't have these - only suffer, despite their skills. D2 PVP lost the latter players, now the former players are about to suffer - no practicing meat for their pleasure. While I continue still to play the unmatched ideas fresh D2 PVE, I've totally ditched PVP in D2 - forever! Currently for PVP I enjoy the brand new Marvel Rivals PVP - where all players in competitive have the same weapons, and thus SKILL DOES MATTER. This is how the true spirit of a PVP game should be!

8000 hours. I’m at 2800 and feel that’s excessive over the last 10 years

I have more hours on “Warframe” since “Destiny 1”…much better game. All DLC free. -
Not a fan of all these anticlimactic goodbye threads cause 99 % of them are back online a week after and yea tbh who cares if someone with 8k or 20k hours leaves the hamster wheel.. I myself have as many or more hours and have just silently stopped playing for the most part for almost 2 years now. Log in every now and then, realize the game is a barren wasteland, noone plays anymore and log off again. The game is not profitable anymore, the few devs who are left working on the game are uninspired and have no passion for the game nor do they know what players want, the higher ups are money hungry idiots, the remaining playerbase is a toxic bunch of gatekeeping elitists, the loot situation is terrible (slot machine), netcode is ancient, performance got worse and worse, graphics got worse due to storage issues, story telling is cringe now, seasons are dull and copy paste, pvp is dead. So why tell us the obvious response as a player to all that? The game is done for. Everyone should stop playing. The fact that theres still so many players left tells me those people are way too attached to the addiction habit to realize all that sooner. Sad.
-
Very well articulated. I think the sentiment is much the same for anyone that has substantial hours invested in this game. I used to spend hours every day playing pvp and enjoyed the heck out of it. Now I cant bring myself to play unless its a weapon specific hunt like the sidearm in IB. Bungie stated they went after R-I-N-G 1 the most egregious of the cheat developers, but they haven't solved the issue of the hardware cheats. I see videos posted all the time on how to set them up specifically for d2. They show the ability to use M&K but still get controller aim assist. Also the ability to basically remove recoil. No wonder some of these players never miss a shot. The lag issue is another that seems like it should be easily resolved. If a players ping is over a set amount they shouldn't be able to engage in pvp. Sad that we are losing players, I see it in my clan that used to have pages of active players and now I rarely see anyone on. Check in later maybe the future will surprise us with positive changes. Take care.
-
Amen. I just wrote a similar post
-
I really need a new game. The PvP is -blam!- terrible, there’s no reason to play if you don’t do raids. I just play this game to pass the time.
