When it comes to owning/purchasing a game, which platform do you prefer and why?
It seems to me that a lot of gamers are collectors and appreciate the physical aspects of a game, the case, etc. A lot of people also like the convenience of not having to switch games when they want to play something different.
I'm a bit biased as I sell digital Nintendo games on eBay so I have to advocate their use a lot of the time. But this is unrelated so I can be honest!
For me, I personally feel some games lend themselves to digital forms well (Animal Crossing) while others demand longer investments of time (Halo, for instance). Just my two-cents though.
What's yours?
-
Physical, unless it's an Arcade Game.
-
Physical. I can return it if I want, or let a friend borrow it or take it to a friends. It also gets me out of the house.
-
I generally prefer physical games so that I can trade them in later, but I do enjoy being able to buy old Nintendo game digitally on my wii

Edited by WILLtheKILLA5: 2/16/2015 5:56:53 PMIt depends really I mean with digital you can just loaded up on your console in your good to go but it takes up more space on your hard drive and am downloading it could do damage to your Internet if you have an Internet cap not unlimited. Physical you could pop it in and you can play and what not but if you get scratched up stolen etc. Most the time I'm get physical but there's a few times i'll get a digital game.

Physical 100% for me digital ain't got any value
-
Digital. Physical copies can break, are time consuming to switch games, and I'm this generation of games you're still required to install the game with the disc so their aren't any advantages to discs anymore
-
Digital if you plan on keeping the game forever , Physical is good for those who want too return or sell a game.

Since the blackness of psn xmas 2014 (a sad sad place on the gaming timeline) I'll never own a digital copy again. They all needed me to be logged into psn account to play. At least my physical copies still worked. Screw you lizard squad, you can't stop me playing gta single player when i have a disc you fecking monkeys

Edited by Progo: 2/16/2015 2:48:40 PMFor console games, I definitely like physical copies, you never know when in the future the provider might turn off cloud storage/authentication. And there's overall a different, more arcade-like feel to consoles, I think physical copies help enhance that. For PC, I largely trust that Steam isn't going anywhere, and even if they died I would still be able to play in offline mode.

I prefer physical but I have to split it up since I hate having to get up to put a new game in. Hell the xbox should have like a 3 disc changer lulz.
-
It depends. I love looking at my shelf and seeing it lined with games. On the other hand my girl and I LAN, Destiny, Dying Light, Borderlands, Minecraft etc as we cant stand split screen. 120$ is a lot to dish out on a new co op experience. So we go digital in that case cuz we can game share.
-
I prefer digital because reading from a disk is slow as -blam!-, and I can access my game from anywhere in the world.
-
You have to go physical because you can always trade it in or sell it later. Digital copies cheat you out of resell value

Edited by DisturbedShifty: 2/16/2015 1:54:40 PMI prefer a physical disc. However the fact that you have to install the entire game and can't play it without it the disc irritates the -blam!- out of me. Either ditch the entire game installs or allow me to play the game without the disc in the console after I have installed it.

Physical. There's nothing quite like putting a new game into your console.

While I prefer physical, I'll buy digital if it's a deal. I have to account for the loss of intrinsic value from resale ability. Most of my PC games are digital (damn you Steam winter/summer sales!), but I have bought three digitally for the PS4, TLOU, Minecraft, and LBW3. All three were bought at pretty good discounts.
