Hey guys, Xylar here. Today I'm going to tell you all about the most iconic weapon in Destiny, the Gjallarhorn.
The Gjallarhorn shoulder-mounted rocket system was forged from the armor of Guardians who fell at the Twilight Gap. Gifted to the survivors of that terrible battle, the Gjallarhorn is seen as a symbol of honor and survival.
The Gjallarhorn is an Exotic Rocket Launcher. Gjallarhorn was the result of a deadly clash called the Battle of Twilight Gap. During this fight, Guardians fought three Fallen Houses. These houses were House Devils, House Kings, and House Winter. The battle saw many combatants, such as Lord Saladin, who was acting Vanguard Commander, and his apprentices, Zavala and Shaxx. The battle was long and hard-fought, but the Guardians eked out a Pyrrhic victory.
“This commission is a commemoration! They deserve something dependable. These men and women did not survive the Gap so that you could make art!”
Victor Lomar, from a transcript of the Project Heimdall development log

"If there is beauty in destruction, why not also in its delivery?" —Feizel Crux
Crux/Lomar is a weapons foundry that makes high-powered explosive weapons. They are famous for creating Truth and Dragon's Breath, as well as a mentioned Royalty line of launchers, one of which is named Charlemagne. Feizel Crux, one of the co-founders of Crux/Lomar, wanted to commemorate the survivors of Twilight Gap with a weapon forged from the armor of fallen Guardians. And so the Gjallarhorn was born, a memorial to the friends that we had lost on that fateful day.
Gjallarhorn launchers utilize a specialized rocket that carries a MIRV payload. When fired, an automated tracking system guides the rocket to it's target. Upon impact, the rocket will release a swarm of micro-rockets called "Wolfpack Rounds", that track targets and cause small explosions. The weapon weighs 23 kilograms and has a 287mm barrel length. Each rocket fired weighs 8.4 kilograms. The weapon has 13 ornamental wolf heads and comes fully equipped with a Trueseeker tracking device as well as a device that detonates rockets prematurely when in close contact with a hostile.
Mim's sons dance,
but the central tree takes fire,
at the resounding Giallar-horn.
Loud blows Heimdall,
his horn is raised; Odin speaks with Mim's head.
In Norse mythos, the Gjallarhorn, or Yeller-Horn is a horn wielded by the Norse God Heimdall. It is said that Heimdall would blow his Gjallarhorn to signify that Ragnarok, more commonly known as the end of the world, was coming. There is an uncanny connection between this Gjallarhorn and the Gjallarhorn we all know and love

So, you're telling me that my frail female hunter is able to lift something weighing over 60 kilograms? Impressive.

Edited by Se7en: 3/7/2017 12:19:31 PMDid you just refer to the all mighty gjallarhorn as a mere exotic rocket launcher? Gjallarhorn is a god not a rocket launcher.
-
Xylar, would one be able to defeat you with the mighty Gjallarhorn at their side?
-
Too bad that none of this is in the game Bump!
-
Odin drank water from Mimir's well with the Gjallarhorn.
-
Why do you introduce yourself?
-
I soled it, you know... So it is iconic
-
Not realy. The most iconic is the kvostov or the last word. Because the intro trailer had kvostov. And the weapon seen most in trailers was the last word.
-
Thanks for letting in some of the Old Norse mythology. It's nice to see someone who gets it more or less right. Too bad Odin and some of his sons would die, though. In the mythology, it's not about the beauty in destruction but in rebuilding.
-
I approve. Great job!

You should be a hidden boss in the remake of vog.
