"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."
(Thank you to DrunkWolf and many others for this quote)
We have all seen this quote above re-quoted so many times for months now. From what I’ve heard, this was said by DeeJ after The Dark Below rendered many guns useless.
So DeeJ (and Bungie), since in the past you claimed that our time should be respected, why haven't you done this? In a game that relies heavily on investing time, it would seem intrinsically that his statement might not hold too much truth. In retrospect, saying our effort should be respected would have made more sense, but that’s sort of a moot point now.
We are just going to go along with what you said for now and figure out a way that Bungie can truly respect our hours of time that many have invested.
[As a warning for those of you who might ask why play it if I don’t like it; actually I haven’t played for weeks. I am writing my opinions and suggestions to help the game, I am trying to do something good, you’d think you’d want the game you play to be better, right?]
Let’s start out with the simplest issue; Legendary Guns. Word of Crota, Fatebringer, Praetorian Foil, Praedyths Revenge, and many other guns that aren’t related with the raids, including Hopscotch Pilgrim, were guns that were highly sought after. A lot of people spent a lot of time trying to get these guns. Luke says he wants people to be able to say "[they] were there when..."? Yes, that's great. But what's the point of that if there's no legacy to uphold? To flaunt? Making this short, I think the best way you could bring these forward would be to have a one-use consumable that would let you bring one Legendary from a Primary, Secondary, and Heavy up to year two status (and to continue to do so for the course of the first Destiny game). That would be pretty cool, and it would give people a reason to go back to raids; to get that cool gun. A new player sees the gun Fatebringer being used, so then they go back to the raid (this could even be done for gear as well).
So, Bungie has already brought a good amount of exotics forward, but I have a feeling that this was already planned since The Taken King only brought in 12 new guns, which would have been incredibly questionable to only have 12 exotics in an “expansion.” Thus bringing them forward would add on to the new content (they did this for some gear as well).
But why aren’t you doing that for strikes? Story content? Raids? PoE? You removed level modifiers for all year one content (not to mention other content). Why would you not bring your own content forward? Also, any player who doesn’t follow the news or the app would have downloaded the patch and started Destiny only to be met with a completely re-designed interface and functionality of content effectively destroyed. Every game that has had DLC’s (yes even MMOs) has still been completely 100% playable without any change to base content even if you haven’t purchased the DLC. This is the best way to confuse a consumer, and lose them.
Before anyone says “all the content is there N7 you don't know what you're talking about!”, let me stop you there and say yes, it is there, but the functionality is gone. There is no point to play any of it. Not only is that a low-ball for consumers, but it is a slap in the face to all the development work done by the employees. It doesn’t hurt your game to keep the level modifiers you had, and it doesn’t hurt your game to create a few new higher levels in the strikes, story, and raids. It adds to your product to keep it there for everyone. Rendering your work useless is absolutely baffling. I seriously cannot understand why anyone would do this to their own game or why anyone would defend that.
By keeping year one content up with new content, you expand your game (the point of DLC and Expansions). This is a good thing, this is a great thing! TTK players are playing the highest levels on only a few strikes, effectively limiting their own content as well. Bring all of your content forward for all of your players.
I guess what I am trying to say is, have something that allows players to actually bring some of their year one content forward because why not honestly, and take the time to modify your already made content and make it relevant and functional for TTK users and non-TTK users alike, because it adds to the size of your game. If you'd rather make a game than a payday, I'd suggest you do this Bungie. You owe it to your players because they like your game (for the most part) and you owe it to yourselves.
Thanks everyone.

Edit: More people are starting to realize TTK content isn't enough. Bring year one forward. Help make your game better Bungie.

Just made a post about this. Good to see so many players still like year one stuff! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/171169409/0/0

Cozmo and deej you little birches how about a -blam!-ing reply ??? You say your listening to these forums, yet your no where to be seen except for your bullshit "weekly updates" which are a -blam!-ing joke in themselves

Agreed. Even if they were to bring forth a 300 light vog, 300 crota and 300 Poe without elemental primaries (besides necrocasm and mythoclast exotics sometimes deserve an element) I would play just for different gear besides the kings fall gear.

Bump again.

I want my VoG gear back... That is all...

Editado por TheShadow: 10/29/2015 9:02:59 PMI like how they made everything obsolete but to only bring them back in different colors. The worse part about that. Making you grind for hours just to get what you had already back.

Editado por DarthV0ider: 10/27/2015 8:21:14 PMBump. Well written and thoughtful. Here's the bottom line though: what you describe does not fit with Bungie-vision's ultimate goal. They want maximum playtime for maximum investment. They want to bend, stretch, and twist existing assets in as many ways as possible to keep you grinding. The more you grind, the more likely you are to keep paying them. This wouldn't be an awful thing if Destiny had launched with an epic amount of sandbox space to play in. But instead, Destiny launched with merely (some say barely) a sufficient amount of sandbox space. Unfortunately, Y1 weapons were so good and unique, and the drive to obtain them such a critical motivation to keep you playing, that with infusion, Y2 weapons were obsolete out of the box, in comparison. The only choice to keep you grinding was to force obsolescence of Y1.

I've wondered how much time is wasted for the developers that make something only to have it voided....bungie spins their wheels sooo much. They have NO CLUE what expansion means...good news though...there's a way to make them learn... https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-bungie-activision-guardians-are-you-with-me-bungie-activision-enough-is-enough

I would love it if we could just be rewarded for getting the year one exotics by automatically being able to get year two versions without having to grind for legendary marks to get them. But hell no its just more tedious grinding to get year two versions of guns I already owned. That really annoys the shit out of me. We are being punished instead of rewarded for being year one faithful with more grinding.

Editado por sharkhunter81: 10/21/2015 4:25:37 PMI agree 100%. Idk how many 1000's of hrs I have in this game, but it's a lot and making year one obsolete just makes no sense. The game would be so much more with our old guns and re-leveled strikes. I'm exhausted from always felling like there is a team at BUNGIE trying to take more and more from me to extend their game. I'm tired of grinding, taking what we worked so hard for and rendering it useless....I'm starting to see that this game is a black hole. A game built on grinding hours/days and even months of your life away for little or no reward. And then having the little rewards you do find, just taken away from you. Makes me angry really. They have no respect for the people that paid to be their game testers in this broken inadequate game they've created. I'm so tired of feeling like they want to take from me rather than give me what I paid for.

I earned a ton of weapons from VoG, crota, and PoE. I would like them all brought forward and if not all at least the exotics I earned through countless tries
