No, really. It's made for war, but not with other countries. It is not made for defending our homes or in the case of an invasion, no. It was made to go to war with our neighbors.
The primary purpose of the 2nd amendment is to overthrow the government in the case that it has become corrupt. It's a right set in place to fight for all of our other rights as an american citizen.
I voted for Bernie Sanders for the primaries. Yes, I even wrote in his name knowing damn well that he wouldn't win, but I stood by my beliefs and stood against the level of corruption that is and was Hillary and Trump. And people may disagree, but i think Bernie was astonishingly better than the two imbeciles we were dealt. And based on my vote, I may not seem like your average Gun Supporter. But I will stand beside the second amendment when all other pieces of the constitution are overruled.
Supporting the second amendment is supporting a takeover of a corrupt government. It should be the last right taken from you, not one of the first.

Actually, you're wrong. The second amendment was created before there was much law enforcement, so people were supposed to be able to defend themselves. Would you rather rob the home of a 22 year old "independent woman" with no experience with firearms, or a 22 year old with an AR-15 and proper training? Without the second amendment, we lose a major part of our history, and put many people at risk. Criminals are criminals, so making the weapons illegal won't stop them. The same goes for the law that states that it is illegal to wear a bulletproof vest in an armed robbery. Because when I'm robbing a bank I wouldn't want to break the law.

At this point we are closer to going to war with each other then against the government. Of course the south will only lose again but people don't think when angry. I was reading the reason why the north was able to win and yes they may have less guns but the advantage they had was technology and migration. Thanks to being able to transport arms and gear they were able to be more prepared then the south and thanks to migration they were able to out number the south. Till this day that system still very much true. California is the richest and most populated state along with being the HQ for technology. You may not like their politics but it still doesn't change the fact that the north will kick your ass again.

I'd agree with you, except the US has had loads of corrupt governments and you've never done anything about it. Politically you're about as docile as they come, even the French have got a better track record of standing up to government abuse.
-
The Second Amendment was created primarily because the constitution was written around the time of the Enlightenment, and one of the beliefs of the Enlightenment was giving citizens the ability to overthrow their government in the case of corruption or infringement upon "natural rights", which was also a popular concept at the time. Not really adding anything to the discussion, just kind of agreeing and echoing what you said.

Editado por A Spooky Reaper: 2/16/2017 3:19:25 PMNo, not for a "corrupt" government. Any form of government has corruption. The second amendment is there for if the government becomes tyrannical and totalitarian by ignoring the constitution. That is very different than corruption. The scary thing is that the constitution limits the government but only the government can enforce it. It is a sort of modern paradoxical situation. The gov violates the constitution all the time, they only get in trouble when the people or others in gov notice. Besides, the citizens would never win against the modern military. Sincerely~ A gun owner

Bernie not corrupt? When was the last time you looked at a politician?
-
I'm not the best with history but I think it was originally created to defend ourselves against the British but that has changed massively over time
-
The 2nd ammendment was created under the belief that people had the individual right to protect self, family, property, and country. It's simply for any use INCLUDING overthrowing a tyrannical government but it's not exclusively for that. Bernie Sanders is anti 2nd ammendment so I think you're confused and he's corrupt af lol

I agree mostly, except for the part about Bernie. I felt sorry for Dems last year, they had 2 terrible candidates. I just wish a different Republican had been nominated.
-
I think certain events that have happened in this country were instigative. Has anyone ever thought the government is more than ready/willing to go to war with its people? Anyone thinking along those lines should be more prepared than having a few guns in the house
It was made to go to war with our neighbors.
I don't know where you live but my neighbors aren't politicians.
Also, you supported a filthy communist Jew.
Editado por iFatum: 2/16/2017 4:06:08 PMNo, I have the right to have and take up arms and all the rights given with the constitution. It's against my constitutional rights to take that away my liberal snowflake.. You proved one by your opening line and finished it off with voting for bernie

The second amendment protects the other amendments
