When Bungie undid the XP throttling system a few days ago, they increased the amount of XP needed to level up along with the change. So now instead of it being 80k XP needed to level up, it's 160k. Bungie's decision to do this confuses me, because I can't see why they would do it. I know most people would say that they did this to make leveling up slower so more people would hopefully buy them at Eververse, but I didn't want to jump to that conclusion just yet.
I know some people are just going to say "Bright Engrams only offer cosmetic stuff, so what does it matter" which is true to an extent, but it's a different story if you're trying to get Bright Dust. Since you can only get Bright Dust from dismantling items that comes from Bright Engrams, I hope you can see where I'm coming from. If you're trying to get Bright Dust to buy whatever Eververse is selling for free, it's going to taking longer to level up now since they increased the XP needed to level up.
Ever since the servers came back online today from maintenance today, I've been grinding Public Events on Earth with a Fire Team Medallion on, I've also been doing a few patrols while waiting for each Public Event too. By the end of the 4 hours on the Fire Team Medallion, I only accumulated enough XP to level up once. If you ask me, that just seems too slow, in my opinion, they should change the amount of XP needed to level up back to 80k, and that's it, they shouldn't try to sneak in any cheap stuff again either.
In my opinion, you shouldn't be punished if you wanted to play the game longer than the targeted player base plays it. I understand that Bungie wants to cater more towards the casual player base, but there's still a big majority of the hardcore player base that want to play this game too.
[b]Edit: [/b] In hopes that Bungie might see this post, let's try and also discuss was they can balance this system or maybe other systems that could even take it's place. For example, I think Bungie could take some inspiration from Warframe's microtransaction system. They way that they have things set up is if you don't have time to grind for stuff, or simply, don't want to grind for it, you can just buy said item. Of course, all the microtransactions in Destiny 2 are going to be purely cosmetic.

Easy explaination...to keep micro-transactions a viable option. I have not & will never spend actual money to get items in the game, when spending some time playing will earn the same items
