Without Bungie providing the percentage increase of chance for an exotic to drop, how do we know if ToC does anything at all?
We can’t rely on Bungie’s veracity here either. Think, first they throttled experience gain without telling us but allowed us to buy fire team medallions that would have been pointless if you were being throttled. Then they “fixed” the issue of throttling xp gain but then DOUBLED the amount of xp needed to level up without telling a soul.
Based on that track record, what’s keeping them from releasing ToC as a placebo for us to burn through the thousands of shards we have? How does one prove that random drops have increased when said drops are RANDOM?!?
UPDATE: So after reading many of your comments it seems as if ToC is in fact BUGGED and REDUCES your chance of gaining exotics when activated. My recommendation is to avoid using ToC at all costs if you value getting exotic drops.
Bungie is now on Christmas break so it’s doubtful we will hear anything on this issue nor will it be resolved any time soon.
Here is a link to Kackis speaking on the issue as well: https://youtu.be/m7efJD5jImE
UPDATE 2: Bungie is officially looking into the ToC matter: https://twitter.com/DeeJ_BNG/status/942446254260236288?s=17
Is Three of Coins simply a placebo?
No. It's not a placebo. A placebo gives you peace of mind through a false sense of security. 3oC is more or less a con in its current state. There is no piece of mind. There is no trust or sense of security. There IS buyer's remorse. It feels like getting sold a lemon by a sleazy used car salesman.

Editado por crazykidbad: 12/16/2017 5:59:28 PM22 strikes-zero exotics but they supposedly upped the drop rate in strikes Edit- since the update

Seem to get plenty of exotics prior to the update. Now not so inc using 3ocs

Editado por Crunchyblack: 12/16/2017 5:52:43 PMWhen it comes to loot RNG and percent boosts, i know from other games that even a couple thousand percent boost can yield nothing. Just thinking of all those Path of Exile chests ive looted with several thousand percent increase in loot quality (the mod that makes the loot more rare not quality level yes i know theres a difference) only to get a chest with a few blues in it...same issue with diablo 3 and magic find.... Its just one of those things that only pays off when its used long term...i dont think 4 hours is long enough....so yes i think its actually a placebo. Now if they had the things last a week...or it was an item that otherwise sucked but gave "magic find" it might be worth longer term farming with it.

Editado por Project Atom: 12/16/2017 12:27:43 PMSome people may feel that it is. Fact of the matter is, Three Of Coins are designed to give you a SLIGHT buff in the RNG. The first time they were introduced in Destiny, they were broken as hell, people found ways to exploit them and Bungie patched said exploit in relatively quick fashion. PRO TIP: Don't pop them one after the other consecutively. Instead, wait 5-10 minutes between coins. They have a hidden cooldown timer.

Editado por biu: 12/16/2017 2:42:20 PMNo. It is just another one of bungie's cons. I give it 1 week after enough players figure out that it is not working and then they announce that there's a "bug" or something that they "only just" found that made the coins "not work".

These two statements conflict with each other.

Didnt work too great for me yesterday. Today got a ton of legendaries and an exotic. Dont farm the public events kids.
-
"Good guy Bungivision" Ha. I love my jokes. Not another cent. Ever.
-
If enough people got involved, we could test it. Few thousand hours tested with no 3oC, then a few thousand hours tested with 3oC active. Compare exotic drop rates per hour. Until that happens, we take Bungie's word for it. All these "I played 4 hours and didn't get an exotic" are totally pointless.

Editado por TwigTwig: 12/16/2017 4:56:59 PMEngrams drop rate increased by 3% with 3oC Increase heroic strike engram drop rate by 2% Decreased exotic chance from public events by 20%

It's another way of getting your shards low. It ups your chance 0.04%
-
Bungie: You wanted something to spend your shards on. You're welcome.
-
I am sure it isn't a placebo. but they did lower exotic drop rates before three of coins came out. so the three of coins probably just brought it back to "normal"
-
Pop a molly instead
-
It hasn't been for me so far
-
I think it is. Judging by long periods of use with and without 3oC. But that's my personal experience.

I like the cynicism!

RNG is RNG. Even with modifiers, you can get extreme runs of no drops. It happens all the time. In one instance it happened to me in GW2 I went for 3 weeks not getting "loot" other than basic items for materials. I did everything I could do increase my drop rates, but still got jack. I was mighty peeved, but the next time I played around 2 months later I had one of the best runs of RNG I have had in a game and ended up with some top level gear on multiple characters. At one point a few players like me were getting drops like crazy during an event that made some people go nuts and accuse people of hacking. RNG really is a fickle beast.
