Just finished the mission so if you haven't avoid for spoilers....
Just lmao at the writing. So many people called it and they did nothing to hide it.
-
Yeah I'm not sure what the writing team is going for, it's almost as bad as when they brought Clovis in to help with Rasputin and expected us all to just forget what a giant POS he is and to act surprised when he tried to betray us.
-
I don't understand why she was even there in the room. Why send a normal person when you have an immortal god killer on hand . Plus, I had a bubble on hand when I was in the room. What the heck. Lazy and dumb writing
-
Nah. People only "called it" because it was leaked.
-
How does cutting a wire and then splicing it back together suddenly hack something? Also, what causes the explosion? Also, why didn’t she just leave the way she came in?
-
I am waiting for the explanation of why, in a universe where there are multiple, basically immortal, characters, ANYONE, would think it makes sense to send a normal human into a mission where death was a very real possibility. Like, what is the point? To take our BEST support personnel and throw them into the meat grinder? They do realize that SUPPORT is just as if not more important than front line battle/missions, right? Now consider that Zavala and Ikora, took a step WAY back after Cayde died. As "leaders", their place is not on the front line. I am pretty sure that is actually the job description of Guardian. Front line operatives. But yeah, let's send in the leader of our Allies and a support pilot into an enemy stronghold to rescue a handful of civilians. Makes perfect sense... Especially since the guardians have been doing this on the regular for weeks now.
-
Unfortunately unable to suspend my sense of disbelief to really care. No enemy up to this point has ever taken prisoners, wtf have they started now? And from the supposed mindless dredge clones no less. Nevermind it’s just “random explosion for no explained reason” Tired of whoever writes these days breaking established lore for convenience and just putting out plain bad writing.
-
I am betting she comes back as a guardian too. With them making a point in the dialogue between her, Devrim, and Mithrax about how they don't have the light to fall back. I wouldn't be surprised if Zavala and Ikora get phased out for whatever they have planned after The Final Shape. We might get Amanda, Crow, and who knows who as our new version of what ever the Vanguard will be in the next chapter of Destiny.
-
There was no way to hide it. The writing told everything in week one. Same with the dlc. Whenever you see a serious character and a goofy character the serious character is likely to die. Whenever there’s a love interest plot that goes extra on on almost losing….one of them will die. (Add on one of them being noble and the other being selfish because they don’t wanna lose that person. Whenever there a reckless carefree character who think they’re invincible and doesn’t play by the rules? Dead.
-
This mission was so f*cking pointless. Amanda’s death was meaningless, sacrificing herself to save 4 prisoners. What the actual hell
-
Remember how Guardians are chosen... Devotion inspires bravery.... Bravery inspires sacrifice... Sacrifice leads to death.
-
Wait a second, I didn't play the mission, Amanda really died??

Editado por Lumis: 3/21/2023 7:53:29 PMSo, uh.. what exploded exactly?
-
Such a pity we will never hear from her before *serious face* She is gone forever. I'm sure.
-
The thing is we never even walked in what was the point of hacking the door or whatever. However my biggest problem with it though is why show that she may have died in the beginning cutscene of lightfall only to bring her back in the seasonal story like "oh she didn't die" and then turn around and kill her off anyway. We knew it was coming but why.
-
It’s like the writing/storytelling is getting worse and worse. We are getting near the end of everything and when things should be really ramping up it feels like the story is predictable, uninspired, forced and falling apart. It would be a shame for Destiny to go out with a whimper after all this time.

Editado por VanHeath: 3/22/2023 6:02:24 AMHaven’t played the mission yet, but never cared about Amanda anyway. She’s a forgotten NPC that you only see at Christmas time to give her cookies. Her inventory is crap. I don’t even understand why she existed in the first place.
-
All of us called it.
-
Indeed I myself feel like this was such an unnecessary turn. I did not expect it, simply because I did not expect Bungie to drop that ball that far. Maybe Byf was right in the end. Bungie did drop the ball.
-
Eh. She might come back. Might even come back as a hunter. She's more qualified to be part of the Vanguard than Crow. He's not in the right headspace

Editado por Asylum: 3/22/2023 10:49:46 AMAmanda holliday dies
spoiler above, read with caution
-
I did learn something important. To bypass an override, all you have to do is shot the wire and then reconnect it.
-
Meh, I saw a different take of Zavala in mourning. In my eyes it wasn't Amanda under the cloth, it was Lance. Anyways what's the betting pool for the next dead hero of Lightfall? Terrible writing, seriously if my addiction to chase increasing numbers didn't outweigh my distain for bad plots I shelf this game and cut my losses.
-
Cool great now Amanda will be a Guardian and not remember her past, so she can fall in love with Crow in some weird double amnesia syndrome type relationship that I am very uncomfortable with.
-
It was a shock seeing that, but seriously WTF? Our guardian was at the door at the end of the mission. Did we just turn around and leave? Or did Bungie just forget where we were?
-
After running last week's mission and then running this one it kind of flet like an episode of Bleach where you get the back story of a character just before a long fight...the only problem was this felt really shallow in a way, heroic sure, but it was just missing something really substantial like she should have handed out a really good butt kicking first.

How many deaths must there be before they stop cutting VA budgets
