SteamDeck Compatibility

I'm sure this topic has come up numerous times, and it seems Bungie doesn't care about SteamOS. The reality is that more and more players are using portable devices. The SteamDeck is one of the best-selling consoles, to the extent that Microsoft is considering building a portable Xbox. Personally, I travel a lot, and the SteamDeck is the only console I have. Because of this, I'm forced to play other similar games that work on the Deck. I know that installing Windows as a dual boot on the SteamDeck is possible, but I'm not willing to do it because it's too technical for me. Please consider updating your anti-cheat software to be compatible with modern systems in 2024. Thx :D

  • Bungie struggles with what they service now and you want steamdeck added to that too? LOL.

That's a whole platform supported for what will amount to maybe a few hundred players, a few thousand tops. D2 players on Steamdeck aren't that common, and SteamOS is a whole different operating system. Why would a game company develop a nearly decade old game for a handheld game console a statistically small number of people would use to play the game? Also, after all the work they put into stadia, Google killed it and Bungie ultimately did all of that for nearly nothing in return. They struggle to keep up with the 3 platforms they support already. Adding a 4th again would kill the game.

      • What they really need to do is start optimizing the game on Windows so it doesn't run the fans at full blast and kill the battery on Steam Deck. If I could run the game on my handheld it wouldn't be such an issue that I was forced to install Windows.

      • Funniest part is Battleye supports linux (and by proxy, steamos since it's linux based), all game devs need to do is implement it which is easy (as in they made it pretty simple) and flip a switch, but they don't wanna, just like Ubi with R6S and other games by other studios who just do not care about doing the simple thing of following the steps battleye/steam tell devs how to enable it on linux They'd rather keep it on windows than a more secure system

      • It’s not only the steam deck that’s encouraging Microsoft to consider a portable XBox. The windows handhelds such as the ROG Ally (which I have), Legion Go etc.. are important in this regard as well. I can play my PC Gamepass, Steam, Epic, battle.net games on my Ally.
