Unfortunately, its an issue with tracking in general that Bungie are aware of in regards to inaccessible/inactive triumphs. They initially pushed an update with Plunder (Season 18) to fix it but mentioned that its still something they're looking into. With each Episode/season launch they attempt to clear all tracked triumphs/quests etc. That system is however buggy and doesn't always work, so for now until Bungie add a definite way you need to hope that it gets cleared when Heresy launches.
