Casual solo grandpa waiting b4 purchase.
Long time guardian here. For the 1st time I'm waiting to buy this dlc. Seems like there will be changes to be made and more bugs along the way. So meanwhile I'll just grab Strand on my other 2 guardians. No stress, no fmo. Play my way. Not a raider or dungeon runner. I did like getting my exotics from lost sectors. I don't mind playing Gambit or Iron Banner/Crucible sometimes. But as I like, not repeatedly. Enjoying reading the debates on the forum. I will say sometimes it would be nice to have a few fireteam buds since my crew has long abandoned Destiny. I'm approaching 70 years of age, so sidestepping the nonsense. Have fun your way guardians.

Edited by DaddyJR18: 6/20/2024 4:09:10 AMI mainly play solo and I would not have pre-ordered the Final Shape DLC had I known that the exotic class item could not be obtained solo. It was the advertising of the exotic class item that caused me to pre-order final shape rather than the prismatic subclass or the campaign. I feel like I'm forcing myself to play the prismatic subclass to justify that I bought the DLC. I main Titan and the Void subclass has better survivability and the stasis subclass has greater damage output (at least with the builds I use). The power fantasy that they sought to sell to us through the prismatic subclass only works if you can get the exotic class item. I would skip purchasing this dlc until it goes on sale or unless you really want to do the campaign story missions now.

Don't buy if you are a solo player, game direction is veering away from being solo friendly.

7 Replies45 yr old, 10 yr player of Destiny, mostly solo, but sometimes have buds around. This game has become far less solo friendly, if you have any interest in the exotic class items understand you will need 2nd player and comms. Frankly I had my fun, i see the direction Bungie wants to take this game, and its not with solo players in mind. Honestly I understand, I'm sure they have data specialists and psychologists in their teams that show players with groups stay & play More hours in games, get coerced to come back after breaks by friend groups/clans etc. They want people addicted in groups keeping each other addicted too. But after 10 yrs my time is fleeting, lots of solo friendly backlog games to play and new releases, I see the writing on the walls here.

So, what you saying is you play the game how you want. Guess what? Nothing has changed, you can still do that lol. People are only complaining because they want something, but don't want to step outside of their self-made box to go get it. Oh well, sucks to be them lol.

I'm holding off from buying it right now. Enjoyed the opening mission but as a mostly solo player myself I'm happy to wait and continue to finish off stuff in a casual stylee. I don't suffer from FOMO. I've just finished Disco Elysium and that IS an amazing game worth dedicating time to.

I waited heard nothing but hype then purchased and soon refunded there is nothing new here and what there is is tuned to bring smiles to the faces of content creators. That is my oh so hot take take it for what it costs.

9 RepliesThe DLC is mediocre at best, but for a solo player is definitely a disappointing DLC. The best exotic activities are team oriented and it appears Bungie is not deviating from team oriented activities in the future. I thought they would make the Dual Destiny mission a solo activity after many complaints, but they are not. That's ok...I'm very disappointed but I do look forward to playing other games. Save your money or wait until is significantly discounted, or skip it all together. I regret buying the DLC because some exotic missions could not be done solo. I tried getting a refund but Greenman gaming does not do refunds, never buying anything there again! This is a huge opportunity for Bungie but I doubt they care much about solo players. I'm trying to motivate myself to continue playing but I can't ignore that fact that I'm unable play important exotic missions solo. So..I think I'm done! I do look forward to playing some of the BEST NEW GAMES out there and that's definitely exiting! Good Luck All!

It’s a $100 for a year of content. This is the last year and the end of the story. I’m 55 and a solo player. Unless a D3 is created with a new engine I’m done after this year. The game is getting boring tbh.

1 Reply74 years old solo player ! I will say that the new dlc is not Solo friendly! There are many things you have to accomplish with at least one other player if not a fire team. I do wish they still had bounties instead of the path which forces you to play there way. If you enjoy Destiny, the grind is real, LOL.

Hey, I’m old too (your generation), bought the DLC and find it fun enough. Did the campaign solo on normal difficulty, not hard. Lots to do, new stuff to try (prismatic). Worth it to me. Have met, off & on, some really nice people (& good gamers).

I’m an older gamer 62+ and a casual solo player and I’m enjoying the dlc a lot! I actually enjoy pathfinder over the old bounty system. Just got the exotic Khvostov and thinking about going to Nessus next. The Final Shape has brought a ton of fun challenges even for solos. Campaign was fun - just the right amount of challenge and length I think.

The pale heart is gorgeous and has a ton of secrets It’s dreaming city 2.0 Prismatic is a ton of fun The campaign was great Right amount of difficulty, great ad density to make survival easier, beautiful environments, really solid story, and I’m a big fan of the new enemy types If you get stuck or have issues Hit me up I’ll help

Nothing wrong with waiting for a sale but IMO the final shape is worth full price. I can totally see waiting to purchase the episodes since it’s time gated anyway

Good decision. I bought FS and do not regret it. I stopped rushing to do the latest thing a long time ago and now play the game to suit me. I also do not care about missing out on things that are inevitably over rated by the community. Enjoy your time doing whatever you please 👍🏻

1 Reply52 years here played D1 wasn't interested in D2 untill cayde died then came to D2 I should have waited to purchase this DLC I have enjoyed the stuff I can play but now it seems very repetitive I find myself being very bored and lacking enthusiasm to play I use to enjoy running my 3 guardians to max level one after the other learning new things experiment with different builds but now it's all to overwhelming and seems more focused to elite youngsters Nonetheless I'm good with it I've run my raids delved into my dungeons and have had some amazing times with some amazing peeps but it does feel like it's not really for the older gamer who just likes to casually play no stress my son usually plays but he seems more interested in fortnight now alot of my real life friends gave up due to whatever reasons I suppose the biggest thing is after all these years and over 8000 hours playing destiny what a huge letdown of a finale to the light and dark saga

I've two friends that play Destiny 2, but only come on the game for 2 hours or so, if we start a long quest it can take a few weeks to finish it, i can't carry on with the quest myself, as the next time my friends come on , I'll have to do quest again, which gets boring. I've played since d1, and have been gaming for 40 years, now 62. As the fireteam finder is as much use as a teabag with no holes, because all post say the same thing, experience only, experts needed, must have 10+ clears, how are new players supposed to learn a dungeon or raid etc, there should be an option for learning, that way it finds players who can learn together. Right now I'm thinking of quitting and going back on elder scrolls online, as I'm getting very bored of not been able to do anything other than basic stuff, as 90% of the time I'm playing solo.

Exotic class items/Dual Destiny mission, the Microcosm exotic quest, the new 12-man GM mission to get the Ergo Sum catalyst, and even weekly story missions are now all locked behind needing to have someone else to play with. Even the guardian rank system was changed so solo players can no longer reach rank 7-8 because you have to play non-match making activities to complete rank 7 now. It's pretty clear Bungie is going in a less solo friendly direction with the game. If anything I regret going full in and buying the annual pass. I'm realizing now it would have been better to just buy the expansion itself, finish the campaign, and then call it a day after the last mission.

You have a few years on me buddy, but the same sentiment. I didn't buy Lightfall until just before they gave it to everyone for free, so I had stuff to do when everyone else was burned out. I'm still in an active clan, but it's still hard to get a team together because of the different times zones, but mainly because of the apathy amongst the players. No one has any great urgency to do any of the new content unlike past seasons where it was hard to find a place in a dungeon or a raid cos everyone wanted to play. Everything seems like an unpleasant chore rather than activities that players [i]want [/i]to jump into, so I won't be buying FS until the dust has settled and the price has dropped to the level of game quality.

Some of my fav experiences are with randos through LFG, or with friends. Sure you might have to experience some frustrations as not all such experiences are glorious, or even gratifying, but the ones that are, are worth all the frustration. 2 RepliesI doubt you would enjoy Final Shape. I certainly don't. I'm pretty sure a whole lot of people are just really, really trying hard to convince themselves they are having fun. Meanwhile they are actually just doing old stuff every week in the raid rotation.
