Following the 2016 election, it is quite clear that the corporatist model of the two main American political parties isn't working. Donald Trump, a populist Republican, beat out Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton in a near landslide, according to the electoral college. This is simply due to the fact that Clinton was heavily elitist and pro-establishment; a major turnoff for working-class America, and rightly so.
Therefore, several leaders in the American progressive movement, including Kyle Kulinski from Secular Talk, and Cenk Ugyr from The Young Turks have helped organize a grassroots progressive movement within the Democratic Party; the same movement that popularized Bernie Sanders and his Presidential campaign. Here are a sample of the Justice Democrats' platform
1. Universal healthcare
2. A $15 nationwide minimum wage
3. Tuition-free public college for all
4. Fighting climate change
5. Strong support for freedom of speech and opposition to censorship of any kind
This is likely the future of the Democratic Party, with tens of thousands of likes and pledges of support since it's inception, just 5 days ago. The future of the Democratic Party is likely a party of the people, by the people, and for the people; a party that stands up for ALL Americans, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, race, sex, or income.
In dark times, we must stand together, and fight for what is right, and I believe this is a worthy cause to take up.

I'd prefer them over the current dems.
-
Yea, I lean more towards the right, however I'm open to anyone who doesn't believe in censorship.
Donald Trump, a populist Republican, beat out Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton in a near landslide, according to the electoral college.
Trump won the EC vote with a margin among the bottom quarter in history, i.e. his win was smaller than roughly 75% of all EC vote victories. It was hardly a landslide.

Does paying more for everything give these guys boners or what? If you love taxes, high utility bills and rich people shoveling the wage increase to consumers, then by all means...
-
If that's what they will do I'll get on board. But until then I still hate both parties.
-
> All of the conservatives on this forum clicking results because they hate the democrats but wanting them to go away is hypocritical.
-
yeah but trumps gonna take over the galaxy so and we will all earn 368 trumpcoins an hours building a galactic wall around our solar system to protect from illegal aliens??1!!1!1!???1?!!

1. Can't afford it. 2. Kill jobs. 3. Can't afford it. 4. Handicap the economy. 5. Queen Cersei level hypocrisy. *sigh* This seems as forced and fake as occupy Wall Street.

Free healthcare Free College Increased Minimum wage Pandering to minority groups while neglecting the majority And that's just the tip of the ice berg I'm sorry but the country cannot handle another Democrat president for a long time. Especially one with the mindset of free free free. Democrats completely neglect our most important issue which has been our debt. Under Obama our debt rose 10 TRILLION meanwhile Democrats are too busy worrying about gay marriage, womens rights (as if they don't have the same rights as men), and other bs like BLM, etc. To put it bluntly, Democrats have lost their damn minds. We get a President in Donald Trump who is clearly working his ass off. He's following through with most of his campaign promises which is unheard off in todays world. He's on fire and with his business acumen he seems like the guy to right the ship. I really do not want to see Trump set the US on the right path just to have Democrats come in right after and re-destroy everything. Yall need to just sit these next few out for the sake of the country

I'd be proud to stand with them. Count me in.
-
If political correctness were never a thing, the right would have died ages ago.
-
The only problem with minimum wage is how do you combat the inevitable inflation of prices? You'd have to somehow freeze current prices where they are now, then raise the wage so businesses can't raise their prices but then another problem forms, how do they maintain their business whilst receiving a profit? They'll probably have to cut some employees from the roster in order to save costs. Now how do we make sure those people don't stay unemployed for long? Until these questions can be answered very few will be on board with this.
-
I love that last point. But anyone with economic sense knows that raising the minimum wage to 15$ will simply inflate the economy, resulting in the workers to be in the same situation.

Appeasing young people (the ones who predominantly are in favour of all those things) is fine, but they aren't the ones who vote.

lol at everyone commenting about how liberal policy is too expensive. Hey guys I found some money: Turns out we're at war constantly, the few states that have legalized are raking it in, AND we still have shitloads of insane tax breaks for corporations on the books. Did you know we subsidize florida sugar just to shit on Cuba? That seems old. Guess it just sat there on the books while we cried about PC culture and immigration. Wonder how many things like that there are? Anyway I found some money that we spend on dumb shit (war, corporate handouts) which we could use, and also we could make some more dough by legalizing... Huh? What do you mean unlikely? Who is Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III? Is that a cartoon character?

Lol @ The Young Turks
-
I support these ideals as they seem like the best means of maintaining the United States as a superpower in a further globalized world. I believe that in the long term, these policies are in the best interests of US citizens.

See I can't get behind 1, 2, or 3. I don't see how getting the government more and more involved in everything is going to help anything. Let alone making higher learning degrees more available weakens the value of them as a whole, lowering the median wage of those jobs in the process

Number 5 is kinda ironic

Изменено (Penguin Emperor): 1/29/2017 6:53:31 AMIf they make public college tuition free then they better give me back all the money I have spent at college. It would be complete bullshit for all these people to go to college for free because they sat on their asses while I'm in my final semester and I worked my ass off to graduate debt free. Zero scholarships, zero financial aid, zero cash from other people. Also 5? Really? Seems quite clear that democrats only want people to have free speech as long as they agree with democrats.
5. Strong support for freedom of speech and opposition to censorship of any kind
I see this becoming a staple of the Democratic Party as the Republicans begin to move from Reagan era neoliberalism to fascism. This tends to be the splitting issue between parties in despot countries. People of many political ideologies that believe in democracy will band behind the Democrats while those against democratic and liberal ideas get behind a more racist nationalist Republican Party. Could be totally wrong. This is ultimately unpredictable. It also means the Democratic Party would be made up of your Bernie Sanders types to conservative minded John McCain like people.
