*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
The big question on every Destiny player's mind is Destiny 2. Nobody had any real clue what the story will be based on (although there was heavy handed foreshadowing about the Cabal in TTK) but it is assumed that none of the current enemy races have died off (though the case could be made for Taken as we don't know if any being can currently Take, but I digress). One of the more prominent enemies in Destiny was the Fallen, the Space Pirates who got the short straw when it came to having their asses handed to them. The Eliksni are my current favorite enemy in Destiny for several reasons, but the largest being their parallels to humanity in spite of their apparent differences. I wish to see this expanded in Destiny 2 but that brings up the question; how will they be relevant in Destiny 2? As I said, in Destiny 1 they had their asses handed to them on a silver platter and are currently the enemy with the most danger of being killed off. Here I will explain some possibilities about what Bungie could do to keep the Fallen relevant in Destiny 2 based on what we know in Destiny currently.
Allies
As I mentioned prior, the Fallen are very similar to humanity. They were also visited by the Traveler and suffered their own collapse when it left them. The reason they are fighting humanity currently is to reclaim the Traveler (excluding the Devil Splicers, who replaced it with SIVA and want revenge). With the Fallen as desperate as they currently are, I could imagine a few going the route of Variks and supporting the Guardians to be with their Traveler once again. Perhaps we might even get Fallen Guardians. There is nothing lore wise that absolutely disproves this possibility.
Splicers
This us one of the more practical possibilities. You see, the Vex and Hive can pull new cannon fodder out for us to shoot without making a dent in the lore. We also know next to nothing about the Cabal as a species and they could also come up with new morphs, breeds, unit types, etcetera without pushing the lore. They could also pull out a new species like the Psions and that would be hunky dory. The Fallen, on the other hand, are quite limited. The different "types" of Fallen are caused by their different intakes of Ether. As far as we know, there is no "in between" of types (like some Dreg with arms or something unholy like that). The possibility of a different subspecies is low and the only other option is something bigger than a Captain, like a redesigned Barron. Other than that, the best option for new enemy types is further augmentation by Splicers. They don't need SIVA to do their Splicing thing but SIVA is still a possibility. SIVA still exists in the Plaguelands and there is large chance there is another replicator. I mean just think about it, something as important as that and you build one production facility.
Variks
We don't know much about Variks and his machinations, but we do know that he wishes to reunite all the Fallen Houses under one banner. What this means for the Guardians is unknown. He could seek to be allies with the City, or he could betray the Reef once he rises to power. Time will tell.
A New House
We do know that other Houses exist(ed) in Destiny. It would not be out of the question for a new House, hiding somewhere in this system or from outside it, could come along and provide a new threat. Stone and Scar are possibilities, but we don't really know.
Time Traveling Skolas
Now this is a long and in depth theory that I'll try to find a post for that better does it justice, but until then I'll just summarize it. In HoW Skolas gains the ability to time travel. In spite of this, he manages to get captured within minutes of this. It is theorized that the strange Vex Signal at the end of the first HoW missionthat was never explained was actually Skolas time traveling to replace himself so the one without time traveling abilities is killed in the last mission while time traveler Skolas is free to move through time amassing an army. It seems convoluted but Destiny is no stranger to convoluted time travel. If this is the case, it could cause some cool possibilities like the Fallen becoming a larger threat than the Cabal or Hive.
Nothing
The Fallen are weak but the Kings remain. We could continue to fight what remains of the Fallen as dispersed pirates and nothing much would really change.
Extinction
This is the least likely possibility. Bungie could decide that, for whatever reason, they do not want Fallen in their next game. The Fallen are currently very weak and Bungie could just say "they're so dispersed that is why you don't see them." Then they could have a triumphant return or die off. This is a possibility I highly doubt would actually happen, and I hope it doesn't.
My Thoughts
I personally believe there will be a mixture if what I mentioned above. The SIVA crisis has left the House of Devils divided. I believe over time this divide will spread to (what remains) of the other houses. An all out Civil War would break out between the Traveler worshipers and the Splicers. Perhaps some extreme circumstance (most likely a Cabal attack on the Traveler) could cause those loyal to the Traveler to side with Humanity. While the Splicers continue to fight. That would take the best of basically all possibilities. We could have playable Fallen or at least allies. Then we could still have Fallen enemies and expanded enemy types. Plus it would just be cool in lore. The only wildcards may be the Kings
Are there any possibilities for the Fallen in Destiny 2? Comment below and please check out more lore in my Clan, The Ashen Conflux, of which I am an admin. . Thanks and have a great day.

New grimoire cards heavily imply that the remnants of the fallen houses(Devils, Exiles, Winter, Wolves, etc) have finally joined the Kings. Prince Uldren, brother to the Queen of the Reef, is explicitly stated to have been captured by the Kings and has done one of the following: A: He killed the Kell of Kings and took command of all the fallen. B: He negotiated an alliance with the Kell of Kings. I myself hope that he did option B, as I as well like the fallen the most and want them in a position of power again. Though option A is more likely from the description and context of the grimoire card. Either way, both options result in some form of alliance between the fallen and humanity.

I think we will be getting fallen allies, maybe even playable fallen. The closest race to humanity, and some of them worship the traveler.

Let's consider the following: evidence suggests that the Cabal are about to move in on Earth and the City in a big way. We know that the Fallen and Cabal don't like each other any more than we do. And also, since the Traveler is protecting Earth, the Cabal will be intent on taking it out. Since the Fallen are fans of the Traveler just like we are, maybe that could cause us to form an alliance. Also, consider that the Fallen have been our enemies in the vanilla game, and our main foe for two DLC's. Really, what more can Bungie do with them as enemies? I see three possibilities: 1. They'll remain enemies, albeit boring and generic compared to the Hive, Vex, Cabal, or whatever's coming next. 2. they'll be removed from the game, possibly destroyed like the Awoken Fleet was, to demonstrate the true magnitude of the latest threat. 3. They'll become reluctant allies to humanity. I can just imagine a Fallen Captain in the Vanguard room with Zavala, Cayde, and Ikora...

Based on the Skolas theory, I think that he will unite with the House of Kings. Remember that meeting we broke up? We may have been too late.

Your all wrong, Destiny 2 is actually going to be a prequel.
-
Hoping for allies. Specifically, Eliksni Guardians. I'd very much like to play as one of them one day.
-
I actually hope that a few fallen will join forces with the city. Maybe restart house of judgement. It would give the city enormous info on the fallen and would allow Variks some hope
-
Maybe it will be like halo two and we wont be allies until the very very end, and sets it up for the next game.
-
Gringo!!!!!

Everything is already in place for fallen to ally qith the guardians, hell even the lore leaves open that ghosts could select Eliksni as guardians. House Devils, and house wolves are broken. Those that are not dead are now hunted. They could seek asylum from the splicers/reef. In the one place they could acutally be safe from them. The last city. Hell they can easily add in a few missions between now and September that set up the fallen joining the city, and lead into them acutally being there come Destiny 2.

How about the hose of Rain. Check out some of my uses for them (click the link). https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/221168274/0/0/1

Stone was destroyed in the Whirlwind, and Scar was taken over by Winter. The only minor House we encounter in the first game is Iron through their walker on the Moon. Also, Dregs have their lower arms docked as a sign of low status or punishment, not because they have low amounts of ether. An alliance or treaty with the Eliksni seems promising.
-
I am going to point out that it specifically says (I forgot where exactly) that Taniks is the last survivor of the House of Scar
-
The future of the fallen? More like the future of my foot up their Ass!
-
You are forgetting SIVA it has been introduced to the moon, the house of exile has nothing keeping it from using siva to become more powerful from the siva's artificial either... maybe a house of archons?
-
Maybe new enemies of Cabals. They can be hard to beat because heavy armors and heavy weapons.
-
I'm pretty sure the vex signature in the first mission of HoW was skolas pulling his army through time from before we decimated them. It was a desperate last ditch effort since we thwarted his every move.
-
Like for later please
-
I imagine the fallen leadership before the Whirlwind was similar to the British parliamentary system, the House of Judgement being the House of Commons and The House of Kings being the House of Lords, with the rest being political parties.
-
They will spawn We will shoot them They will die Repeat That's what I know. Confirmed.
-
I'm here to fight giant worms. There won't be any city sinking on my watch.

Изменено (TrikMoneySchmity): 3/1/2017 5:14:15 AMI want destiny 2 to be a lot more dark and mature honestly. I mean we are fighting this so called "darkness"...maybe bloodborne is swaying my opinion
-
They fall some more?
-
I maintain that the House of Exile will become a threat. Think of it, all we've done to the Fallen like murdering all of their leaders, ruining their plans, etc. You can imagine this will lead to quite a few displaced Fallen...
-
I want a new House appear, fallen allies, and time traveling Skolas. Why not have all, yeeesss?
House Scar will wait. When we show our face, it will be feared. Cower before the Scar Kell!
Praying that the kings make a treaty with the city and they're eliksni guardians
