Bro. (Or sis. lol) You gotta stop thinking the way you are thinking. You aren't thinking about the game from any other perspective except your own. You aren't thinking about the People. The ones that are different from you. The ones that look at life differently from you. The millions and millions of casual gamers out there. The ones that might have an hour too spare a day tops or about two or three hours on the weekends to spare for gaming. Or the ones that don't want to take things "seriously" and want to have fun. In a Game. Which is what Destiny 2 is, A Game. You don't realize that Bungie; and any other game company, needs to take into account those casual gamers out there. Because they make up the majority of the customer base.
I'm not belittling you or anything. Lobby balancing should be better. Maps should be better. A bunch of other things should be better. I agree with you on that. But how can that or any of the other problems get fixed if the player-base is nothing but mid-tier players or higher? And all the thousands and thousands of casual players and new players are gone or; like with New Light players that aren't good, step into the Crucible one night for the first time... Get stomped all night long... And never set foot in it again? How can the Crucible be sustainable when probably 70% (or more) of the Possible player-base doesn't set foot in the Crucible? Or gets in it for a very short time and then quits for other games or to just play PvE? How is that sustainable? How is that good for business? It isn't.
That's why CBMM isn't the way too go. It's not completely the problem, but it is definitely not helping anything either. Some of you have said, "People shouldn't expect to jump in and do good right away and have fun." Paraphrased and bit but that's what some of you have said. Maybe they shouldn't but that's not the reality... THEY DO. People are the way they are these days. These casual and new gamers want to Have Fun In Games. Some of you have basically said, "People should get good." Paraphrased a bit again but that's what some of you have said. But the reality; once again, is not what you want it to be. The millions of casual gamers out there usually don't even have time to "get good." Like I said before. They got a few hours a week to play because they are too busy making a living outside of gaming; or whatever else, and they don't have the time to commit to "getting good" at a certain game. And most of them probably don't even want too in the first place.
And these people you Have to take into account. And you can't expect them to change and start thinking the way you are thinking. You can't just think, "Why are these people like this? I'm right! Why can't they just see that and start thinking of it from my point of view and change?" No. You have to put yourself to the side and see the big picture. When you meet people where they are FIRST, and try to under stand them FIRST, then they appreciate it and it makes a difference. Then some of them might actually start wondering, ask you some questions, and start trying to see things from your point of view after the fact. That's how people are. And you have to take into account how Other people are, even in gaming.
That's why I've said what I've said. You gotta look at the big picture and start thinking how to bring back all the casual gamers. And how to keep New Light players in the Crucible instead of leaving after one horrible nights' experience. We NEED these players! We need as many people playing in the Crucible as possible for it to be the most optimal experience it can be. Right now we don't have that. We haven't had it in a LONG time.
That's why people have clamored for the return of some kind of SBMM. It doesn't have to be super strict. It just needs to be Enough. Because at least the few random New Light casual players we do have might actually stick around long enough for more to show up. And if we get enough of these players... Maybe some will play enough to change from casual to more hardcore along the way and actually get better. Some won't, and that's okay. We need ALL of these players. And you; well mostly Bungie, needs to understand these players and what it would take to keep them logging in. Even if it's only a few hours a week. Every little bit helps.
And you sir. (Or ma'am. lol.) You and other players like you should try and at least meet these other types of players where they are and try to understand them and make them feel welcomed. So that maybe they will stay. The more we get back in to the game the better. Then maybe some will return the favor. Then MAYBE we can do other things to make the Crucible better. For everyone.

Same argument - if you are for Cbmm you just want an easy stomp. By saying you advocate for cbmm you are saying that you don’t want to play against people at the same skill level as you. Meanwhile newbs and casuals jump in and then never come back.., Is it worth it?

I think loose SBMM is the solution. I shouldn't be forced to play out-of region and with worse ping just because I'm one of the very few people in my bracket searching at x time. Likewise, I understand the need for low bracket players to not get dumped on.

It’s pretty simple to find out what people prefer and Bungie already knows the answer. Put in one QP with SBMM and one with CBMM, like in Shadowkeep. Here come the farmers to complain about splitting the population…

I’ve seen you copy paste this too many times already. Looking at most these responses you are not being agreed with. You are forgetting destiny doesn’t have the servers to support SBMM and implementing it in 6s would be a lagfest worse than it is now with crossplay. Bungie does everything they can to makeup for the lack of servers, CBMM is one of those things … On top of that you can see SBMM makes the meta even more crucial to stick to like in CoD and this community already complains enough about the meta. The meta currently is quite balanced and you can see a variety of load outs, always a good sign.

If you think SBMM is good, go play COD. If you do good one game, the next game throws you against the top 1% and it’s just the opposite spectrum. There is practically no middle ground and I’d much rather have the random skill gap of cbmm than the absolute sides of sbmm.

I do agree it needed in Comp and Trials, but I don't think it's needed in Quickplay modes like Control, Clash, Rumble, etc. Best example of why SBMM is bad in all modes is COD. It has destroyed it's playerbase and many people don't have fun in multiplayer(not the only reason but it's one of the biggest) The bigger issue with Matchmaking is lobby balancing. Once that gets addressed, I think people will calm down and probably have better games. Also, I hate to be that person, but most Casual players don't stay in crucible that long anyway, no matter the system. Not saying casuals are bad, it's just how it works. I wouldn't mind a loose version of SBMM but I don't that many people will happy with it.

These modes and events does not really invite team-play If i was a hoarder and a dipsh*t i would have no problem to tank a Trails or Crucible match just to get my beloved legendary, catalyst or reach a quest step. BUT I'M NOT THAT EVIL or BAD! That is why i'm slow in my progression. Mostly i only do strikes and more "reachable" game content. But as of now i actually have lost that ache as well. The fun-factor in this game is pretty much completely gone! For me it's enough just to watch all the Tubers, whine, groan and moan over D2 development, to just tell myself. Fkk no! let them sweat it out, cause i'll rather go and grind Warhammer Vermintide II instead. That loot is worth grinding for. And looks pretty good compared to Bungo-Design 2.0!

I appreciate all the effort you put into this post, but you're just gonna get downvoted by people who get off to farming noobs in Crucible all day and it's gonna fall on deaf ears. My take is that they need to go back to the "most everything has SBMM aside from 1-2 dedicated playlists with only CBMM" model and loosen up the SBMM restrictions. Not a whole lot, but enough to remedy the 20 minute queues for people at the extreme ends of the skill curve while still ensuring that New Lights don't get matched against triple gilded Flawlesses for their first game. After all, that's the single biggest problem that CBMM-only causes. New players get matched with people they have no hope of competing against, go "this is awful and not fun at all", and never come back. For every new player that goes "looks like it's time to git gud" in response to going 0-30 in Control, you have 20 or 30 new players that abandon Crucible entirely instead. You're throwing new players into the PvP equivalent of GM Nightfalls when they're barely ready for playlist strikes and they're rightly deciding to leave. In a perfect world, you'd have a hybrid of the two models, where the higher you are on the skill curve, the less the game factors in skill when deciding where to match you. But there's no way Bungie can program or tune that properly, which is why I suggest going back to the model I described earlier. At least that way, the CBMM playlist functions as a quarantine for all the sweaty noob farmers while everyone else can go chill in the other playlists with loose SBMM.

so you may hate activision , for good reason , but they are right about one thing - in a competitive pvp shooter - SBMM is 100% better for player enjoyment and retention. alot of chads lurk these forums and constantly throw shade on sbmm, and their voice is usually strongest , but thats only because the casuals who would favor sbmm, dont come here, post , or even care enough to discuss this topic. i dare bungie to include an actual survey - IN GAME - as a pre login pop up , asking which players would prefer sbmm, or cbmm. the MAJORITY of players would choose sbmm. i guarantee it

People who defend cbmm basically want others to improve and get better, but there's a problem Being constantly matched against teams that are way above your skill leave no room for improvement, matches should never end in a mercy but they do anyways. This is what they have a problem understanding, getting matched with equal or slightly better skilled players allows improvement, little timmy being matched against a 6 stack of gilded unbrokens does not

Yea i gotta agree SBMM the games were alot closer most times. I'd say more competitive intense battling close to the end to pull off a victory. I kinda miss those days. BTW im not even good at crucible but i definitely enjoyed it more.

Nice page of babbling BS. PvP is a competitive environment. If you don’t want to improve and learn and get better so you can be dominant. Then don’t play. That simple. You shouldn’t get a baby pool because you want to just sit back chill on your couch and not try, that’s what pve is there for.

Hard disagree. You mentioned new players a few times . Anybody coming to destiny I assume already has a background in shooters . Good enough to fend ok In crucible . And if they don’t , Pve is more than a ouch practice. I know this because both my wife AND her sister never play shooters . But when we play crucible they can both do well enough to add to the team or even be a mid board player. Sbmm has been proven by tons of tubers and streamers to be a volition system that creates boring meta periods . Right now the meta is fine , every weapon can compete . Hunters are still the pvp gods and continue to be the main choice but the guns are fine. I promise you if we were to see destiny 2 incorporate sbmm into pvp right now you would see an immediate new meta form . 3/6 stacks of stasis hunters with vex mythoclast and some special. I like being able to use multiple weapons so no thank you.

No, If you want to step into the crucible to just “have fun” then do so and don’t expect to win because at the end of the day you just want to have fun. If you want to play it casually then do so but don’t expect wins. D1 vet here and I had to “git gud” in order to play and I didn’t expect the game to hand me wins. I work, school, and hit the gym so when there is a will there is a way.

Since CBMM I was able to play fun loadouts without being matched with the best players in the world. Thank god there is no SBMM anymore.
