Avenged Sevenfold and Foo Fighters all on one day! Let’s get into these reviews.
After *looks at calendar*… way too long, A7X finally comes out with some new music. Initially, I loathed the new style when they did the pre-release of “Nobody”. I expected the usual wild and loud sound from them, but instead received something completely different. It did eventually grow on me, and now I quite enjoy the album.
If I had to describe the album, I would say that it sounded like someone took all of A7X’s previous albums and threw them into a compactor, producing the strange yet beautiful “Life is But a Dream”.
Now, on to the Foos and their new album. I’ve been a fan of them for a while, so Taylor Hawkins’ passing hit me hard. I was worried that the band would just break up after years of success and great music. That’s when I saw that they had a new album coming out. I listened to the first pre-release song, “Rescued”, and I instantly fell in love with it. It sounds exactly like how I wanted it (especially after the disappointment of Medicine at Midnight), hitting both the speedy tunes and slow, heartfelt melodies.
Personal favorite songs from each:
A7X - We Love You
Foo Fighters - Under You
Thire ratings:
“Life is But a Dream” - 7/10, had some good moments, though I wish there were a few more fast songs.
“But Here We Are” - 9/10, would call it one of their top albums.
