Female teacher avoids jail after sex with student

Roseanna Langley, 24, said the affair was over — but she was re-arrested three days ago after being seen with the lad in her car.
It was not ruled a bail breach because the boy is no longer a pupil and she has been sacked by the school.
Yesterday Langley got a suspended eight-month jail sentence and was banned indefinitely from working with kids.
Langley took the teenager to a London hotel for a dirty weekend away, but when he wanted to cool the relationship she tried to force him into continuing the fling by lying about falling pregnant and having a miscarriage.
Langley — who began the relationship after breaking up with her fiancé — last month admitted sex with a male aged 13 to 17 while in a position of trust. She was sentenced at Exeter Crown Court yesterday.
She will also have to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
Judge Paul Dunkels branded her “selfish and manipulative,” adding: “You were reckless not only with your own career and liberty but this boy’s wellbeing. You were selfishly exploiting him

It was extremely inappropriate and unethical, but being branded a sex offender seems pretty harsh.

The case was dropped because no one would cooperate with the authorities. Sexism might have a role in this, but it's definitely not at its finest.

If you're a woman you have to actually do something to be considered a sex offender but if you're a guy and if you even look at a minor you'll be seen as one. And why would anyone ruin their career to have sex with a student?

And this my friends, is a textbook example of sexism in the courts. I'm not saying male pedophiles are okay either. This woman should have been locked up with the same disgust and outrage the court would undoubtedly feel for a male offender.

Funny how it's okay for women to do it, but if a guy did it, it would have been what, a 20 year sentence? /logic
