So, I and a few of my fellow Clan Members (Death by Hug), have been wondering about the unusually large "Moon" in geostationary orbit above mars.
Now, I don't mean the small one that actually looks like Deimos or Phobos, but the HUGE Asteroid above mars: Images included in the imgur link!
Geo-Stationary Orbit? Too large & Too close - would have impacted
Given Stationary Debris between planetoid and Mars...
Possibly encountering a stasis field prior to impact?
Highly detailed (even given seams)
Not Phobos or Deimos due to size - That can be seen in the last set of images...
So, what is it? Possibly sent to destroy Mars but stopped with a stasis field?
All that is left of the Cabal's people?
An Arkship?
What are your thoughts?

Edited by CDT DYLAN M: 6/25/2015 7:44:00 AMStart at around 5 minutes in, confirmed for Phobos. Also, you can't see the entirety of the moon in any place on Mars, the fist few are Phobos on a different angle because you are in a different area.

Edited by GingerGallifrey: 6/25/2015 7:24:41 AMGiven the periods, and time required for one of those moons to impact, there is no valid concern unless we are talking several million years from now. Don't think on a human timescale. You need to think Astronomically/Geologically in terms of time. Entire Eras before impact for something already caught in orbit. Also the distance and size can be seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons_of_Mars#/media/File:Mars_Moons_Orbit_distance.jpeg

Edited by GingerGallifrey: 6/25/2015 7:21:44 AMDiameter; Volume; Mass; Semi-Major Axis (Orbital Height); Phobos 22.2 km (13.8 mi); (27×21.6×18.8) km; 10.8×10^15 Kg; 9,377 km (5,827 mi) Deimos 12.6 km (7.8 mi); (10×12×16) km; 2×10^15 Kg; 23,460 km (14,580 mi) I don't know about you, but given the distances involved, that Large one as shown, would NOT be Phobos or Deimos The smaller one possibly. But not the large one.

Deimos and Phobos orbit Mars irregularly and it's assumed that given time one will inevitably strike Mars and the other will be flung out of orbit. I can only assume the Traveler (or perhaps the Earthlings during the Golden Age) had the technology or know how to prevent such a catastrophe and put the "moons" in a geo-stationary orbit. ...or the devs were just lazy...

Edited by CDT DYLAN M: 6/25/2015 6:47:48 AMThe first few are actually Phobos. When the Cabal attacked Mars, they shifted Phobos' orbit to be closer. This is why it appears larger than it should. The last two are a different object, just an asteroid.
