Dear Bungie,
I enjoy using Destiny's Companion App. I use it daily for everything Destiny related, such as right now. It can do useful things that the website doesn't pull off smoothly, or sometimes at all. Since starting to use a tablet, I hardly use the browser version at all.
Despite its power and capability, there are some things I wish the Companion App could do better. Here they are.
1) I wish the Forum offered all of the same functionality and facility as its browser counterpart, and more. For example, you can't browse Forum subsections such as Destiny > Endgame. Or you can't Like/Dislike a post, or even view its Likes/Dislikes for that matter. Or you can't choose to sort posts by Latest, Trending, etc. Or you can't re-label a thread as a question once you've already created it. Or the way your cursor gets stuck on words and is clunky while you're writing/editing a post. There are just a number of little, helpful functions the browser site has that the App lacks.
2) I wish the Companion App had a custom interface for tablets. Currently, it is just a scaled up version of the smartphone interface. The fonts are kind of big and clumsy looking, and I much prefer the layout and aesthetic of the website. Also, the App currently doesn't rotate with your device orientation; something that would be helpful when reclining with the charger plugged into the bottom. I'm not complaining; it is a well made, easy-to-navigate app. I just wish the tablet wasn't an afterthought, but a beautiful experience itself.
I feel like the Companion App is meant to be the one-stop shop for Destiny if you're on mobile. The ultimate hub. You shouldn't need to resort to the browser for some lone feature it's lacking. It should be the ultimate way to interface with Destiny and the Community outside of the game itself.
I hope the Companion App will continue to grow more refined and sophisticated, and be my standalone source for all things Destiny.
Thanks!
Edit: Found there actually is a 'Sort by: Latest, Trending, etc' feature. Guess my eye didn't gravitate there. Sorry about that.

I actually wrote a post on this today but yours is much more comprehensive. Thanks for writing it. Agree the app needs a serious refresh. It's very much "year 0.5" at this point. BTW, besides the lack of iPad support, the main site is not Safari-friendly either.

Wait, you can actually see likes / dislikes of things?? Oh damn

Edited by UFSman: 9/25/2015 8:04:20 AMDon't forget to mention how we if to delete databases close app from home screen after each time we gone into forms in order to use the other menu functions.

Need to be able to join clans from the app.

Edited by FrostedSaber: 9/25/2015 10:14:46 AMThe ability to see all of the descriptions, stats and perks on weapons and armor currently being sold by the vendors, and to be able to view their models in 3D. Edit: This would actually be great if it applied to all Inventory and Vault items you possess, as well as other players'.

The ability to preview vendor armor on your guardian in full 3D rotation.

An additional feature I would love to have in the App, and on the website as well, is the ability to view all of your threads you've ever created in the Forum. I mean all of them. Not just your last 10 or 15, but reaching way back. Sometimes I want to revisit an older thread I've created, or comment on it with new perspectives or information. I'd really use this.

Edited by FrostedSaber: 9/25/2015 6:35:07 AMAnother improvement to the Companion App would be to the Bungie Weekly Update pages, as well as the Hot Fix pages. Currently, they are zoomed in so far you can only read about a third of a text line at a time. You can try zooming out, but it doesn't stay; it pops right back in. So you have to do a lot of dragging just to read a single sentence across, and it's a laborious and unenjoyable way to read. Anyway, just something I've been noticing, and I'm glad these pages are easy to find on the App.

Need to have a place to track completed quests
