If you missed the last chapter, it is here. If you want the master thread for all chapters, it is also here!
So I did a crossover with Azidamadjida's Reef Mob series a while back in the original, and discontinued House of Scar series. I've decided to repost and refine the crossover chapters I did with him, so the next two chapters that I post will be crossed with the Reef Mob universe. WARNING: The links in Azid's chapters are old, and do not link to part 1 and 2 of mine.
Just to say you will have to read his crossover chapters before you read this, read Ch. 23 and Ch. 24 of Reef Mob, and hopefully you can check his series out if you have not already.
I have flown my Ketch back to 6 Demeter under the demands of Seren Cay, Baroness of 6 Demeter and the leader of this 'Reef Mob'. She has proposed an exchange with I, the kell of Scar: I give her the access codes to Taniks' Ketch to free one of their family members. My brother is a monster, torturing innocents, rendering their names meaningless, forcing the feeling of uselessness into their minds, branding them the title of 'Tanis'. I cannot stomach what he does to them.
I had to hope the hunt for Falis went well, and that Zatkis is alive. He went on a wild hunt for the Wolf royal, and knowing Zatkis, he only did it for the thrill. Foolish, yet somehow admirable.
I chuckle at my lack of the old honor. What do I know? I've been a pirate captain in the Reef for too long.
I feel my spirits rise as I see a skiff of Scar royalty come into view; Zatkis had survived the chase.
"There, that is him", I tell the Baroness. I allowed Seren Cay and some of her guards aboard my ketch, and my whole crew has been eyeing her with suspicion. By the look on her face, she is suspicious herself. I believe she is thinking Zatkis a danger, being the son of Taniks.
I tell Seren, "I have to contact Zatkis; he is to land on the asteroid with me."
She replies with a smirk, "If you do not mind, your highness, it would be preferred that Zatkis and you, alone, enter Hedon House. The people down from the Impulse Division are... not very savory characters. Your crew might get themselves into trouble with them."
I did not question this. I don't trust my crew either; if they had the chance, some of the men, awoken, and exos might try and 'stay for a drink'.
"I have to agree with you, your Grace." Seren nodded, seemingly pleased. I have heard about the Reef Mob, but never knew their location. The whispers never said what asteroid they were centered on, unfortunately, or else I would not have come here.
I contact Zatkis, and give him a briefing. "Zatkis, follow me. An Awoken group, the Reef Mob, has offered a deal. They will allow us to get the parts for a small price. Do not worry, we will speak more at their 'Hedon House'. Please be very respectful, too. Let's make this easy on ourselves."
Zatkis was puzzled; he did not expect Awoken when we came here, but he understood. "Fine; I'll be right behind you."
I docked the ketch right outside Hedon House, as well as Zatkis' Skiff. Once we entered Hedon House, we were given looks from Seren's guard. Honestly, I'd like to hear their opinions on the Eliksni, see how they feel after they have lost an arm... or two.
We walked to what was the throne room of the Awoken Baroness. She wanted to discuss this further, and I am honestly not sure if she brought Zatkis for his consent, or for cruel humor when we talk about Taniks.
She spoke with warmth and welcome and said, "I wish to make this bargain simple for you, and... Zatkis, let me tell you about our deal."
"My pleasure, your Grace!", he said respectfully, which he never does for me: his own kell.
I was worried, and the Tech witch knew it. Seren replied, "Let us cut to the chase: a member of our family has been captured, and... something else important was left on Earth's Moon. In exchange for the parts to your Prime, your uncle will gift me the access codes to Taniks' Ketch, to free our lost family member."
The thrill in Zatkis eyes turned straight to blood and recollection. Memories were flooding through his mind of the countless people that Taniks labeled 'Tanis', and what he had not only done to their bodies, but their minds. He made them think they were nameless, voiceless, and the only way to live was through torment.
A coldness entered his eyes, his demons attempting to resurface. But, thankfully, he held some calm. "Why would we have his access codes? We don't conspire with that mercenary."
Seren Cay seemed as if she could see right through his lie, but remained calm. "I know your kell has the codes. Taniks accompanies his Ketch, and he has many Tanis's aboard. One of them is our lost family, and if we are able, we will kill your father." A cold, and ironically reassuring, statement.
Zatkis' began to shiver, trying so hard to retain his fury. "Send our own soldiers aboard! I will supply them myself, and I will head on Kaliks-syn myself!"
I looked at Zatkis and shook my head, "No, Zatkis. We will not disrupt the mission of the crew to kill a mercenary. I apologize, Baroness, but you must understand that his father has effects on the ones exposed to his... being. But I have to say, there is something you are not telling us. What are your plans when your men board the Ketch?"
This tipped Seren a little bit by Zatkis' arrogance, and my question. "This was not part of the deal. As far as you should be concerned, you only need the parts for your servitor."
I persisted, although knowing what she's capable of. "I understand that, your Grace; but as the brother of Taniks, I deserve to know everything that happens aboard that ketch."
Seren answered with a more stern tone. "You will give me the access codes, Vesrik, and that line of questioning is not appropriate."
Zatkis grew impatient, and walked closer to her throne. "We will have answers! He is my father, and I deserve to know everything!"
I feared for Zatkis and jumped in front of him. I see the eyes of the Techeun begin to glow, and everyone could feel her power growing, so I had to stop him somehow. "Zatkis, cut it! We will get answers, but now is not the time! Please try to understand!"
Zatkis pushed me out of the way and persisted, "You will give us answers, 'Grace'! There's more to this story, isn't there? The Rabid is out of prison, and the Scarred rumored to be in league. But I'm not interested in any of that, anymore. I want to know what your plans are, Seren!"
The Baroness grew furious, and got up from her throne. "I warn you, Zatkis, you are out of your place! It would be a tragedy if you die here!"
Zatkis pulled a Shrapnel from his back, the barrel aimed for her. He had no fear, for he grew up with Taniks, who was scarred, and born without it. The Techeun levitated from the ground without hesitation.
I stood between the two of them, with my massive blade drawn. "Stop! This is not what was supposed to happen! I will give you the codes, Seren, but please end this madness!"
Her feet fell back to the ground, and her eyes back to normal. She sits back down with the same calm she had when we entered. I turn around to check on Zatkis, but before I knew it, Zatkis had blood and foam spilling from his mouth. The Baroness had made her statement of power.

ZATKIS! DONT DIE, YOU FOOL! I'm going to bed, so I won't read the next chapter until tomorrow. Gosh, right on the cliffhanger! Zatkis was one of my favorite characters...
