Yes, I know. Huge ass discussion. But let me tell you, what I feel, after many hours of research from those who have died but came back to earth in a sense of their heart stopping or when they went into a Deep sleep.
Death is a very good feeling, presumably. You die in the real world, and you feel as though you are "In a state of mentality that is as like when you are about to open a present. But in the moments after this excitement, you are either pleased with what you got, or disappointed by the outcome. Either way, you thank whoever gave you this gift." Essentially, you thank whoever you religiously believe for have this opportunity of life, whether it is God, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Buddha, or what have you. But I believe there is an important piece of the puzzle many people are missing.
One big thing I believe is that, after you die, you go to whichever afterlife you believe in. Think of it as watching a movie or something that you can relate to and you believe will happen in real life. If you had so much faith in your past life in for example, the Afterlife Buddhists have where they turn into another animal based on how they were in their past life, you will do such and turn into the animal you believe. I think that your faith will carry over, and you will be able to go to Heaven, that's all in your imagination. The whole concept will be EXACTLY how you believe it would be, and you will see in Heaven what you thought it would be on earth, or any other afterlife belief. Your state of mind will transfer over, and what you believe will become reality and what will happen to you in the afterlife because of the amount of faith you had in it was strong enough to carry over to after you die. As for you Atheists, it is likely you will feel peace and serenity in your body, as you look into a void as if you were sleeping without a dream. In peace. Undisturbed by anything, and feel happier than you will ever be.
When you die, your spirit will leave your body, unseen by the rest of the world. Your "ghost" (if you believe in them) will roam around Earth without your control, seeing the people who you loved that died much like you will in Heaven, etc.
Anyways, most accurate way I can describe this is that - believe in what religion you believe in. And make sure your belief is strong, and you follow exactly as your religion believes and do is it tells you to do in your life. Be a happy and faithful person without fear or discomfort, for that will be what you will feel when you die. Essentially, your personality carries over with you when you die. Death will be exactly as you will hope for in this life.

So, this could be my afterlife right now? What if I believed in reincarnation with no prior knowledge similar to Hinduism? O.o

Hmm. Interesting theory, and perhaps backed by science. Many phenomena in the universe are caused by the transfer of energy. So it stands to reason that death is just the same. After all, energy cannot be created or destroyed. Could 'life force' be a type of energy that simply leaves the body?
