I came back to Destiny after a few years. I linked my original [u]Steam[/u] platform account with newly created [u]Epic Games[/u] account (both with name [i]tauronux[/i]). All good. Then i realized i want to play through Destiny 1 on my Series X console, so i've linked also my [u]Microsoft[/u] account which was named [i]foinixes1[/i]. After this, all my names were reset to the generic [i]GuardianXXXX[/i]. I've tried everything i could but i am not able to change the names at all. Here's what i've tried and tested: - trying to change the name on Bungie's website won't give me any error message (not even the red one about having not enough tokens), it just won't save the new name. The webbrowser asks if i want to discard changes, when i try to leave the page - i've unlinked all the accounts but it happens to them all separately - i've tried creating new [u]Steam[/u] account [i]Foinixes-1[/i] but after logging into Destiny, i was greeted with information, that my name was changed to the generic one - i went into the game, typed "foinixes" into the ingame chat and guess what - the profanity filter blocked the word. So i made sure to choose a new name, which was not blocked in the ingame chat and which was also not used by any player according to the Bungie's Search tool. This new name was [i]Seraphimes[/i] - created new [u]Steam[/u] account, but had to add something to the name, as it was already used - [i]Seraphimes40[/i]. After logging into Destiny, it was changed to generic one - created new [u]Epic[/u] account [i]Seraphimes[/i] - which got also changed to the generic one after logging into Destiny game So now all my accounts are named GuardianXXXX and i can't change it even though i didn't use any tokens to do it before. I can see recent reports of similar problems and i'm looking forward to the resolution, but let me just suggest something: It's 2024 and every other website where you can register an account, will tell you exactly why you can't use the name you've chosen and will let you change it on your own. And they will either let you change your name at your will or after paying a fee. So what if the system would notify the user about what went wrong and why he can't use the name so we properly understand what's wrong with it? What about giving us the option to change it during some time period, before an automated system resets it to a generic one? And what about giving us on-the-fly name check tool, which would tell us if the name we choose next time is not used by other player, banned by the system or if it violates any naming policies? Because right now it's just ridiculously clunky to use and unclear about what words we can and can not use.
